Fans from the original to the screen will be thrilled, as the film is so faithful to Jackson's work that little has changed.

" Dorian Gray " (2009)

When the painting began to age and bear the imprint of his debauchery, he fulfilled his wish and fell into the abyss of evil.

The baby-faced Ben Barnes plays Dorian Gray in Oliver Parker's 2009 film. Dorian Gray's lascivious and indulgent quests became the centerpiece of the adaptation, so some of the classic gothic elements disappeared. Colin Firth played the role of Henry perfectly, playing the devil on Dorian Gray's shoulders until his daughter became the object of Dorian Gray's desire.

"Four Hundred Years" (1992)

Gothic novels cannot be without aristocratic vampires, Bram Stoker portrayed the murderous Count Dracula in his 1897 novel as aristocratic vampires father. The book takes the form of an epistolary novel, consisting of letters and diaries of many characters. Count Dracula invites lawyer Jonathan to his castle to assist with his London estate formalities, after a walk through the forbidden castle, Jonathan realizes that something is wrong with the Count. He escaped and eventually hunted down and killed Dracula along with his fiancée Mina and the mighty Van Helsing.

While there are many films based on Stoker's classic novel, Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 film is arguably the most famous. The cast of the film is flawless, Keanu Reeves as Jonathan, Winona Ryder as Mina, Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing, Gary O Derman as Dracula. The film manages to inspire the kind of anxiety and fear that are integral to any gothic story, and Oldman does a great job of infusing Count Dracula with the right mix of glamour and monster.

" Interview with the Vampire " (1994)

Consistent with the vampire theme, Anne Rice 's 1976 novel firmly established the concept of the gentleman vampire. The story is told by 200-year-old vampire Louis , who tells a skeptical reporter about his life experiences. Louie tells the story of how he met the charismatic vampire Lester, who changed him, and their lives afterward, including the addition of their "vampire daughter" Claudia . Anne Rice's novels are the cornerstones of vampire and gothic fiction, telling stories of adventures spanning two centuries from New Orleans in the United States to Paris in France.

Neil Jordan's 1994 film shows another example of perfect casting, Brad Pitt as shy, gentle Louie, and Tom Cruise as his eccentric partner Lester , whose intensity is only suitable for Tom Cruise. Young Chris Ting Dunst as the vampire child Claudia, a woman cursed to live forever in a girl's body, who embodies gothic femininity with her signature curls and porcelain skin horror elements. "Interview with the Vampire", which is being broadcast on AMC TV station , will be a big drama.

Wuthering Heights (2011)

Emily Bronte's 1847 novel is a story of class disparity and loss of love. The poor orphan Heathcliff was adopted by the owner of "Wuthering Heights". Over time, he developed a sincere and pure relationship with his adopted sister Catherine. But in the end Catherine chose to marry 's more gold farmer, Linton . Heathcliff retaliated and eventually became the master of Wuthering Heights, but he was forever haunted by the ghost of his beloved Catherine, who he could never be with.

Although Andrea Arnold's 2011 film isn't particularly entertaining, it does stay true to Gothic themes of loneliness and emotional turmoil. The film's cinematography is crude, drawing attention to the brutality Heathcliff experienced, drawing on the majestic landscape shots surrounding Wuthering Heights. The lack of dialogue can be disconcerting at times, but it's a true take on the book's mysterious characters.

Driven insane by feelings of jealousy and dissatisfaction, the second Mrs. Derwent makes it her mission to find out what really happened to Rebecca, even if it means uncovering the terrible truth about her husband.

Ben Whateley 's 2020 adaptation is an accurate portrayal of the original, with all the passion and angst you'd expect from a gothic tale. One change the director did make was to give Lily James more of the "Second Madame de Winter". He also added something at the end, at the end of the book, the de Winters drive towards the burning Manderley. However, the film goes beyond that, showing the de Winter couple happily married, traveling the world - arguably a more disturbing image, especially in the lead character Maxime de Winter's. After the crime was revealed.

The Haunted House (1999)

Sherry Jackson’s 1959 novel The Haunted House is a classic haunted house story (even in the title!). In the book, paranormal enthusiast Professor John Montagu invites a three-person team to live with him at Hill House in hopes of proving the existence of ghostly phenomena. Ghosts were knocking on doors, there were cryptic writing on the walls, and even the house appeared to be "dancing" at one point. No doubt they all went a little crazy in the end.

in Jan de Bont 1999 film "Ghost Invasion", Liam Neeson as Professor Montagu (except his name is Professor Marlowe), Owen Wilson , Catherine Characters played by Zeta-Jones and Lily Taylor make up his trio. The film is largely faithful to the original with a few tweaks - for example, Professor Marlowe lures his subjects into the house under the guise of sleep research, whereas in the original he was documenting a scientific experiment . Luke Sanderson played by Owen WilsonThere isn't much "wow" in the book either. For a different story, it's worth checking out Netflix's 2018 TV series "Ghost Invasion."
