Torgena Umbetaliyeva, associate doctor of political science, director of the Central Asian Democracy Development Fund:

Regarding the issue of the presidential term, I do not want to draw on international experience, because in my opinion , the national conditions are different, and the reference is not meaningful. Kazakhstan has formulated this bill according to its own characteristics, but it is hard to say how the seven-year presidential term will work, because it is the first time for us.

There is no doubt that this is a serious, meaningful and very important phase in Kazakhstan's life: we look forward to real reforms. The voices of reform come one after another, but there is no unified strategy for how to proceed, and it may take time.

Political Scientist Danyar Asimbayev:

One term, very interesting. Fundamentally changed the political structure of government. Of course, if you can seize the moment. The next president may want to change that, but that's a question of the future, and it's hard to predict. Although historical experience is very convincing.

It is worth noting that Tokayev has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to be re-elected. In fact, the president's seven-year term has plenty of time to test the effectiveness of policies.

Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies chief expert Alisher Tasjanov:

Israel and Armenia are both for one term. Each country has its own deadline. If it is held every four years as in the United States, it means that these four years are enough to implement reforms, and this model is successful. Every country has its own model.
