HBO's prequel series "Dragon Family", which took hundreds of years, cleanly returns to the complex history of Westeros . It deftly captures the ever-changing character motivations. Plus, it's trying to address author George R-R Martin 's grievances with the Game of Thrones series, which aired in 2019.
"Across all eight seasons, where we really failed budget-wise was my least favorite scene in the entire show: Robert King Hunt," Martin in Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon said, "Four men walking through the woods with spears and Robert talking nonsense to Renly. In the book, Robert goes hunting and we get word that he was bitten by a wild boar and they brought him back and he died So I've never [written the hunting scene]. But I know what a royal hunting party is like. There will be a hundred men, there will be pavilions, there will be hunters, there will be dogs, there will be horns-- That's how the king hunts! He won't just be on the road. He won't just be walking in the woods with three of his friends with spears, hoping to meet a boar."

's third episode of "The Dragon Family" aired on Sunday, with King Viserys Targaryen arranging a lavish hunt. A headquarters-like place was set up on the outskirts of the target woodland, and people from different families were bustling with people. They attend a grand banquet and perform a slaughter ceremony for the king after capturing a large buck. The weapon they chose - a golden spear from House Lannister - was a far cry from what Robert Baratheon once had.
To be fair, House Targaryen act differently than House Baratheon . But if Martin said the royal hunting party should be a showy event, then it should be a showy event.
reported that while the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones had a working budget of $15 million per episode, the first season is said to have cost only $6 million per episode -- and that's the most. As for The Dragon Family -- it's said to cost $20 million per episode.
