"Hidden into the Dust" - The silence of adults is a kind of self-protection

Watching " Hidden in the Dust ", one of the scenes that moved me the most was when the wheat was harvested. Ma Youtie asked Guiying to fork the wheat pile on the ground and hand it to him. Guiying's thin and disabled body could not support the huge wheat. Heap, after several toss, fell to the ground. Ma Youtie yelled at her: "You idle king! How many bags of wheat have you eaten, I just raised a donkey, and it can pull a cart for me!" Memories of reprimand: My father had a bad temper, and if he didn't go with him, he would get angry and yell at me! I was sad, angry, inferior, puzzled... At first I only knew sadness and tears, and slowly I began to resist, or justify or strike.

And after Gui Ying fell to the ground, she shivered, wet her pants slowly, was silent, and couldn't even see her expression clearly.

Silence! There are countless silences in this movie! The silence of the two during the first blind date; the silence of the two when Gui Ying wet the kang for the first time; the silence when Gui Ying went to the neighbor's house to watch TV and was disliked; the silence of Ma Youtie after the death of Gui Ying...

Countless times of silence, expressionless, neither sad nor happy, to them, all this seems to be a matter of course, and deserves to be arranged, bullied, reprimanded, and abused. Their hearts are riddled with holes, hard as iron, and insensitive, and they have long been unaware of their heartache, let alone resisting. They silently accept all the arrangements of fate, and silence has become their best umbrella!

After Ma Youtie calmed down, he coaxed Gui Ying into the donkey cart and handed her a small ear of wheat. Gui Ying stared at it for a long time, revealing a very shallow smile.

This movie has been telling us how miserable life is - miserable! But it also tells us that no matter how hard life is, there is still hope for survival!

We may also have Ma Youtie or Guiying around us, and even we ourselves are Ma Youtie and Guiying. In this world, we live hard and struggle! But there is always a glimmer of hope that is worth living, living well!
