Nintendo: Since April, about 160,000 accounts have been illegally logged in through NNID

We have previously reported that Nintendo started investigating large-scale abnormal logins of NS accounts. Today (April 24) Nintendo issued an official announcement on the results of this investigation. It is reported that since April this year, about 160,000 accounts have passed NNID (Nintendo Network ID) is illegally registered.

What needs to be explained here is that Nintendo Network ID and the current Nintendo Account used by Switch users are not the same thing. Nintendo Network ID is the previous generation Nintendo account system (Wii U, 3DS), and does not cross with Nintendo Account (can be related to each other).

Nintendo said that they have closed the way to log in to Nintendo accounts through NNID. This disclosure may lead to the disclosure of user nicknames, date of birth, country/region, email address and other information.
