Works Explains the works

Zhong Genglue has lived in New York for 40 years, artistic creation The journey has gone through 10 different stages of exploration. What his oil painting and sketching art present is a modern perspective and way of interpretation; but the solid foundation of traditional academy training and the aesthetic cultivation of Chinese painting also appear in his works. The pastoral scenery of Lingnan, the flowers, vegetables and fruits closely related to people’s lives that he has depicted in the past ten years, on the one hand reflects his intimate feelings of returning to the familiar living environment when he was a teenager, on the other hand, it shows his feelings about the green space with Lingnan characteristics. Of great interest. His depiction of the green space aims to trace a natural space that has not been polluted by humans. It is a lush, transparent, and vibrant natural environment. Therefore, his concrete painting does not emphasize objective reproduction, but consciously explores beyond traditional painting observation modes and deductive techniques, and incorporates more personal subjective consciousness in the process of depiction; he is customary to intuitively describe the natural scenery. , Transformed into an ideal landscape composed of personal mental images, which is between reality and surreal, both real and virtual. He believes that in an era where fragmented information is flooded, how to use this information to reorganize the images in our minds is a very meaningful challenge.

Author's statement

Depicting evergreen Lingnan scenery is a great challenge in the field of color. The difficulty of controlling the rich green levels is a recognized problem. Especially in the subtropical Lingnan region, the hot sun is mixed with a mist of moisture, which adds a kind of instability to the green in the natural environment; it is this instability that makes the green environment unpredictable. Uncertain color changes and space. The lush, strong and transparent color is different from the green environment of other places outside Lingnan, so I call it "Lingnan Green". The continuous interpretation of "Lingnan Green" over the years has not only left my obsession with the scenery of the homeland, but also a challenge. Good works of art must arise from emotional impulses and difficult challenges. Only love is true, love is true, producedOnly works have penetrating power and can hit the audience's heart directly. Every piece of work has its highest difficulty waiting to be overcome, and this difficulty is the core spirit of the work.
