Moved, Zhong Nanshan had such a great father

Character Business Card: Zhong Nanshan, the first batch of national experts with outstanding contributions. He used to be the dean of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical College and the dean of Guangzhou Medical College. He is currently the director of the State Key Laboratory of Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases. He was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1996, and won the National May 1st Labor Medal twice. In 2004, he was awarded the Bethune Medal, the highest honor in the domestic health system. In 2016, he won the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award, the highest honor in my country's engineering industry. Representatives of the 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, members of the 8th and 9th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, representatives of the 11th and 12th National People's Congress, 100 people who have moved China since the founding of New China The only non-official person in my country has served as the president of the Chinese Medical Association. People rarely know that Zhong Nanshan, a leading figure in the medical field of our country, has a great father, and Zhong Nanshan has repeatedly stated that his achievements are closely related to his father's teachings and influence.

Zhong Nanshan's father is called Zhong Shifan .

was born in 1901 in the late Qing Dynasty. He lost his parents since he was a child. At the age of 9, he was taken to Shanghai to serve as a servant for a family.

Zhong Shifan, who was sent to the fence, worked extremely hard while working for others, and finally admitted to Peking Union Medical College with excellent results.

In 1930, Zhong Shifan graduated from Concord, and then went to the State University of New York to obtain a doctorate in medicine.

In 1946, Zhong Shifan was appointed by the Kuomintang government as the president of Guangzhou Central Hospital and was appointed professor of pediatrics at Lingnan University School of Medicine.

On the eve of the national liberation in 1949, the Director of Health of the Kuomintang went to Guangzhou and ordered Zhong Shifan, then the director of the Central Hospital, to carry the hospital with $130,000 and the whole family to Taiwan overnight.

However, Zhong Shifan hated the KMT’s corruption and incompetence. He resolutely rejected the order of the Department of Health and risked his life to stay with his family in Guangzhou.

After the People's Liberation Army entered the city, he transferred all the money from the hospital to the military control committee at that time, which reflected the solemn deeds of an intellectual.

To this day, in the archives room of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital, there is still an archive that has been yellowed-"The 1950 Central Hospital Property Transfer List", which was July 15, 1950, at the then Guangzhou Central Hospital Dean Zhong Shifan handed over the inventory of property to the Military Control Commission. This 410-page handover inventory records all the contents handed over by Dean Zhong Shifan, including documents, letters, books, including houses, medicines, medical equipment, and so on.

This yellowed book clearly proves the patriotic feelings of Dean Zhong Shifan!

Mr. Zhong Shifan is a well-known pediatrician in my country. In the 1960s, Zhongshan Medical College had eight national first-class professors such as Liang Boqiang, Xie Zhiguang, Zhong Shifan, etc., and he was the well-known "Eight King Kong" in the Chinese medical field at that time, accounting for national medicine Nearly 1/4 of first-level professors.

Mr. Zhong Shifan is also a famous virology expert in my country. In the 1950s, the Pediatric Virus Laboratory of Zhongshan Medical College was founded, which is one of the earliest clinical virus laboratories in my country.

Until the 1980s, when the body was sick and it was inconvenient to move, he still moved the virus experiment to his home for observation.

Zhong Shifan often teaches students that those who truly devote themselves to science treat scientific research work without accounting for time, conditions and remuneration.

When Zhong Nanshan was a child, after his father got off work, there were still many adults holding their children to see his father to see a doctor. In such an environment, the young Zhong Nanshan realized how sacred it is to treat and save people as a doctor.

In 1955, 19-year-old Zhong Nanshan was admitted to the Beijing Medical College with excellent grades, and achieved the first step in his ideal medical career.

In 1960, Zhong Nanshan stayed at Beijing Medical University and served as a counselor, editor of the school newspaper, and engaged in radiology teaching.

was in the magnificent Zhong Nanshan, when he was planning to do a career, a sudden political storm plunged him into infinite pain.

Since his parents were medical experts, and his father had gone abroad and studied before liberation, Zhong Nanshan became a "capitalist roader" as a pup and a descendant of "reactionary academic authority."

A big hat was hooped on the top of Zhong Nan Mountain, and he was almost out of breath.

Soon, more sad news came, Zhong Nanshan’sMother Liao Yueqin committed suicide because she could not stand the criticism and humiliation.

So far, whenever he thinks of his mother who is infinitely warm, the stubborn Zhong Nanshan will cry in tears.

He can't forget the kind reminder, the caring of his mother, and the kind teaching from his mother.

needs to mention that Zhong Nanshan’s mother, Liao Yueqin, is also a well-known doctor. She is one of the founders of Guangdong Cancer Hospital.

In that special age, Zhong Nanshan was forced to put down his medical work and became a boiler worker.

He used a big shovel to dig up dozens of kilograms of coal one by one, carried it up and walked more than ten meters, and threw it into the burning hearth. Every day,

has to shovel thousands of catties of coal and carry it hundreds of times around the furnace.

But he was stubborn and didn't allow himself to cry out.

just like that, how many days have passed.

03

In September 1971, Zhong Nanshan left Beijing and returned to Guangzhou.

Old Mr. Zhong Shifan, got up early for his son's return.

He urged his daughter-in-law to take his grandson to the train station to pick up Zhong Nanshan.

At this time, Mr. Zhong Shifan has long been labeled as a "reactionary academic authority", "litong foreign capitalist", and was ordered to retire by the Revolutionary Committee of Sun Yat-Sen Medical University.

Zhong Nanshan had just returned to Guangzhou from Beijing and was educated by his father. Zhong Nanshan still remembers that after returning home from Beijing, Zhong Nanshan always felt that his father's eyes were full of inexplicable worries. What was his father worried about?

Zhong Nanshan dare not ask more.

Until one day, his father suddenly asked him: "Nanshan, how old are you?"

Zhong Nanshan didn't understand what his father meant, and replied respectfully: "36 years old."

"Oh, all 36 It's terrible..." The father of

sighed deeply and said nothing to Zhong Nanshan.

This night, savoring what his father had not finished speaking, Zhong Nanshan thought a lot. He understood his father's painstaking efforts, and he knew that he was 36 years old, but he still didn't accomplish anything, and his heart felt like a river is overwhelmed.

Many years later, Zhong Nanshan always tells others that his medical career started at the age of 36.

Zhong Nanshan once wrote in his diary: Most people praise me a lot, but my father always criticizes me.

's father's criticism of me was actually "lovely cut", so "severe harsh".

04

Zhong Nanshan still remembers that when he returned to Guangzhou, his father was over 70 years old and his body was very weak. In addition to his poor eyesight, his whole body was almost stuck to the tabletop, writing something very hard.

At that time, it was difficult to use advanced equipment in the primary hospitals of our country, and only rely on simple symptoms and signs to differentiate and diagnose pediatric diseases.

In order to improve the level of pediatric diagnosis in my country, and to sum up his decades of clinical experience for future generations, Zhong Shifan wears a magnifying glass every day to go to the library to look up documents. Due to the serious imbalance of eyeball convergence, his vision is significantly reduced. When he couldn't read the foreign letters clearly, he asked young comrades in the museum to help identify them. Everyone in the

library knows him, and they reserve a place for him every day.

In this way, Mr. Zhong Shifan's "Differential Diagnosis of Pediatric Diseases" was finally written, more than 400,000 words, and written for 4 years. The spirit of

meticulous to the work and highly responsible for the readers is deeply moved. The book

has been republished 6 times, and each reprint quickly sold out, because it is very suitable for the Chinese situation, especially for the majority of primary hospitals. After

published the book, he was given a remuneration of 1,500 yuan.

Later Zhong Nanshan learned that of the 1,500 yuan, 700 yuan was given to Dr. Wen who helped him copy the books. Later Zhong Shifan paid for 40 copies and gave them to relatives and friends.

Zhong Nanshan said: Father is like this. He has a persistent pursuit of his career and always hopes that others will have a better life.

05

In 1987, this well-knowing intellectual, this great and often tortured doctor, this warm and serious father, on the occasion of his death, especially instructed Zhong Nanshan not to hold a memorial service or waste others time.

In the last few days of his life, Zhong Shifan and Zhong Nanshan discussed whether the magnetic field is against the virus.Toxicity has an effect.

Zhong Nanshan has always remembered his father's words: “As long as you can create something for humans, then there is no waste of life.”

06

In 1979, Zhong Nanshan passed the qualifications for studying abroad and went to the University of Edinburgh to study. However, British law does not recognize the qualifications of Chinese doctors. The tutor does not trust Zhong Nanshan, and limits the two-year study time to eight months. Zhong Nanshan secretly made up his mind to fight for the motherland.

He worked hard, achieved 6 important results, and completed 7 academic papers, 4 of which were published in the British Medical Research Society, the Anesthesiology Society and the Diabetes Society.

His diligence and talents have completely changed the view of Chinese doctors by foreign colleagues and won their respect and trust.

After he finished two years of study, the University of Edinburgh and his tutor, Professor Franley, repeatedly graciously retained him. However, Zhong Nanshan’s determination to return to China has been determined. He said: “I was sent by the motherland. The motherland needs me. My business is in China!”

In November 2002, SARS appeared quietly in some areas of Guangdong Province, my country. After more than a month of initiation period, it spread to 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government in my country.

has spread to 32 countries and regions in Asia, America and Europe.

As of August 7, 2003, the global cumulative number of cases was 8422, with an average fatality rate of 9.3%.

has never had a fever and lung infections, causing everyone to panic. Academician Zhong Nanshan decisively realized that this is a new type of virus, and there is no specific drug at present, but he has always insisted on saving the dead and healing the wounded at the forefront of medical care. He was ordered to serve as the leader of the SARS medical rescue expert group in Guangdong Province. The Provincial Health Department took the initiative: "Send all serious patients to me!" That year, Zhong Nanshan was also 67 years old. Zhong Nanshan often recalled later that his father told him to tell the truth and tell the truth since he was a child. This was his father's attitude and his own pursuit.

In the battle against SARS, there were three "fork in the road": the dispute between pathogens and chlamydia, treatment methods, and epidemic judgment.

If he did not hold on to these three "forked roads", perhaps the situation of the entire Guangdong's fight against SARS would have changed, and the situation across the country would not be optimistic.

Because of his outstanding contribution to the fight against SARS, Zhong Nanshan won the National May 1st Labor Medal and was awarded the only special service by the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Government. On April 8, 2004, he was awarded the highest honorary title of the domestic health system—— -Bethune Medal.

Today, we mention and sort out this past event, hoping that it does not lose its current significance.
