After a year, what has changed in "Yai Bai"? (Contains severe spoilers)

still remember the excitement after watching "八百" a year ago, so I don't believe in conspiracy theories fabricated by people who have never watched the movie. I have always believed that "Eight Hundred Hundred" is a patriotic work, and those enthusiastic people will never affect the greatness of this work.

I have heard some rumors before the second brush of "Eight Hundred", but I am actually a little worried. Fortunately, I have watched more than 8,000 movies, and I still have some memories of images. I can still remember some of the differences between "Yabai" a year ago and the release version of "Yabai". (Because it has been a long time, if there are omissions and errors in the text, please forgive me)

Judging from the remaining memory, the release version is indeed somewhat different from the one a year ago, but the specific adjustments are by no means as conspiracy theories say. Big.

The protagonists who have not been cut out

The public release version of "Yai Hundred" is indeed different from the "Year Hundred" one year ago. Some shots have been cut, but they have not suffered large-scale cuts, most of which are technical adjustments. . A lot of people are concerned about whether there are any cuts in the main actors' scenes. I can say here very responsibly, very few!

is the first public release license. Last year, the dragon mark was No. 2019 88, and the release version was changed to No. 2019 800. Although such a large number of dragon labels is rarely seen in movie theaters, according to the number of domestic feature films in 2018, whether it is No. 88 or No. 800, it is compliant. Of course, this customized version of the dragon mark can only be given by the National Film Bureau, and the National Film Bureau can give the face of "Yu Bai". On the other hand, at least at the film bureau level, there is not only no card "Yu Bai" He even gave some special treatment to "Eight Bai".

introduced the background subtitles at the beginning of the article. The previous version used historical pictures with subtitles and included information about the Brussels peace talks. Perhaps to control the duration, the title was changed to black subtitles. But the Shanghai grandmother's monologue was completely retained.

Wang Qianyuan has a lot of plays, and the release version does not damage this character at all, but it is not uncut. For example, Wang Qianyuan was scolded several times by the elites of the 88th Division for soldiers and soldiers. Only , Jiang Wu, and were left in the release version and shouted "Warriors" at the last moment of saying goodbye. The same phenomenon should also be seen in Jiang Wu, Zhang Yi, and Ou Hao. The characters themselves have not been cut, but the subtle reaction shots of some other people have been cut to save time. There is no harm to the character's image as a whole. As for the endings of Zhang Yi and Jiang Wu's characters, the original version didn't explain it either. I wanted to leave it blank on purpose.

And as the "second echelon protagonist" Li Chen has a scene cut slightly. When the soldiers tied grenades and jumped downstairs to prevent the Japanese soldiers from bombing the warehouse with their explosion-proof shields. Li Chen also tied a grenade. The original version was that he walked to the window and was stopped by his comrades. The public version of the scene was cut.

There is a very interesting character in "Yaibai", a reporter with the surname Fang, who sold intelligence to the Japanese army, and went into the four-row warehouse to leave precious video materials for the Yao. If I remember correctly, he has more than two scenes outside the warehouse, and there are not so many scenes in the warehouse.

Strictly speaking, the war scene in the warehouse has hardly been reduced, even some details have been added. However, in order to control the length of time, some scenes were cut in "Yu Bai", and these scenes were concentrated in the concession on the other side of the warehouse.

The cut-off Ruan Jingtian

In the original concession, there is a Chinese Taiwanese civilian, played by Ruan Jingtian. He speaks Chinese. Later, he saw the Japanese army massacred and cursed the Japanese army in Japanese by the river. The crowd found him thinking that he was a Japanese spy. The angry crowd hanged. This character was deleted from the release version. From a human point of view, it is a pity that Ruan Jingtian's role was cut off, including Ruan Jingtian who was also the first actor to be exposed during the filming of "Yai Bai". The human nature of

has been deeply discussed in "Bullfighting", and it is also the artistic commonality of the sixth generation of directors. The "Waste Chai Tiantuan" composed of Wang Qianyuan, Jiang Wu, and Zhang Yi in "Yai Bai" is also based on this commonality. . Although Ruan Jingtian's character is more extreme in human nature and more biased towards the tragedy of the characters in "Tai Ping Wheel", the cut has no effect on the overall film and saves a lot of trouble. The rogue knife in the

concession is a very personal character. In the original version, he played in the casino.Knife playing handsome, cut the release version. That kind of generosity to die for the youth's loyal spirit is a bit weaker. And before the knife is righteous, the scene where the Qinggang disciples lined up to sign their lives cut two foreshadowing shots, adding a reaction shot of the Qinggang bigwig, and the public opinion surged into a big nod.

It’s also a pity that when the Japanese army attacked the warehouse, the people in the concession not only beat the gongs and drums, but also wrote large characters to remind the defenders. The original version had a scene where the people were looking for cardboard to write in large letters. Big characters swept away. The Peking Opera troupe in the

concession also cut one or two reaction shots. Others saluted the other side. They clasped their fists. Yao Chen's He Xiangning probably missed one line of drama. The British army and the concession patrols have missing a few close-ups, and they all have explained the environment with a panoramic view.

The saddest thing is the end of the film. Now there are only three Yao heroes' information, and the rest are all subtitles. The original version has a lot of information about the Yao heroes. The photos add life and are very impactful.

also adjusted the two flags out of non-technical reasons. The Nazi flag deliberately did not take all the signs, although it was indeed the German flag at the time. The national flag of the Nationalist Government had a close-up when it was put down when it was displayed in the warehouse, and a close-up of the flag raised outside the warehouse the next day. The release version changed the close-up of the National Government flag to the reaction shot of the soldiers. The scene of

organizing the death squad to protect the flag has not been deleted at all, and even some scenes of the party reporters shooting documentary films have been added. There was no close-up of the flag in the original version of the follow-up play, and naturally there was not the release version. From an artistic point of view, there is nothing wrong. There is no close-up or even a magical touch. After all, there are some subtle differences between IMAX's audio-visual language and 35mm, such as more panoramic views.

The biggest change in "Yabai"

But the biggest and biggest change is that "Yabai" changed from black and white to color! The advantage of black and white

is that it is very artistic, just like the final color of "Devil Is Coming", "Eight Hundred" also turned into full color when the four-row warehouse was given a panoramic view at the end. This kind of color contrast is extremely shocking, and it is more technically demanding for photographers. But whether audiences in third- and fourth-tier cities can accept this kind of artistry is a commercially unbearable attempt. The change of

to color is also beneficial. All the war scenes in the release version of "Yaibai" are added with a layer of cyan, which contrasts with the blood red during the killing. In the first scene, Ou Hao’s Hubei security group was smashed by the Japanese army. When he was hacked and killed by the Japanese army, the red blood splashed out was very dazzling. Although it is a great perspective, the characters in the depth of the field are psychologically close-ups.

This is probably a technical attempt by Guanhu to shoot "Yaobai" with IMAX cameras. It uses the characteristics of the IMAX frame and makes extensive use of panoramic and large panoramic views. Through the movement of the characters in the long lens and the contrast of partial colors, the psychology of close-ups when viewing the movie is achieved. . Another advantage of

color is that it changes the starism in black and white to a more group image. The black-and-white picture is accompanied by the dark blood and oil on the face, and some characters do not have a particularly strong impression. Coupled with limited space, these characters are difficult to expand. But every line of theirs is contextual. The color version of

allows these characters to see the expressions on their faces, with lines, which instantly deepens the audience’s awareness of these "color block characters" in other movies. Although there are many actors like Yu Haoming and Wei Chen among these "color block characters" or "dragon set characters".

When the sound becomes the full version

, another change is that the sound is made more refined. The sound of last year's version was not completely finished. This was specially reminded by the film party last year. Although the sound of last year's version will not cause any discomfort from a viewing angle, the sound of the full version must be amazing!

is first of all dialectic, the original version only has Ouhao, Jiang Wu, and Wang Qianyuan speaking in dialects. Other defenders, including Xie Jinyuan and Huang Xiaoming's special commissioners, spoke Mandarin. This edition is all dialects in the world, including the people in the concessions, who speak various dialects, and the characters are extremely lively. Especially Xie Jinyuan's role, that wide-ranging mouthful, is simply nothing. Of course, if you look closely, some actors' mouth shapes are still Mandarin. Fortunately, there are many panoramic views and they don't pay much attention to their mouth shapes.

The only pity is Huang Xiaoming, the Mandarin lines spoken on the set, The public version was changed to Shandong dialect. The mouth shape in close shots is obviously not right, it is better to let the leader speak Shandong dialect directly. The most amazing thing about

is the close-up of the sound in "Yai Bai". Because I used the IMAX camera to shoot, there are many panoramic views in "Yaobai", and there are no close-ups in some places where there should be reaction lenses. However, in "Yaobai", a lot of sound close-ups were used. From the time when Ouhao and his uncle were called by the Japanese army, he used sound close-ups. Although it is a panoramic view, the physical distance is at least ten meters. However, I used the close-up sound to reverse the reaction shot of Ou Hao in the warehouse, and it was completely connected when watching the movie. The same example also appeared in the scene where the Japanese soldiers were bombed with their bodies. The aircraft is located in the concession, and the physical distance is at least 100 meters. Because of the close-up of sound, the soldiers who jumped off the building and bombed the Japanese army became the focus of the picture.

These should be Guan Hu’s aesthetic attempts on IMAX photography. On the premise of preserving the IMAX wide frame to the maximum, the close-up of motion and sound in the depth of field is used to achieve the expression of partial close-up in the audiovisual. These attempts should provide a reference basis for future IMAX photography or wider-frame movies.

"Eight Hundred" came to an abrupt end when the Chinese defenders rushed to the concession bridge. After that, the regiment leader Xie Jinyuan led his troops into the British concession, was disarmed by the British army, and went to the "solitary barracks" to isolate for nearly four years. In April 1941, head Xie Jinyuan was assassinated by a traitor in the "solitary army camp". After the outbreak of the Pacific War, the Japanese entered the British concession and sent the surviving soldiers to Southeast Asia and even New Guinea to do hard work. The rest of the

88 division took part in the defense of Nanjing after the Husong defense battle, and almost the entire army was wiped out. There are more than 88 divisions in "Nanjing Nanjing" directed by Lu Chuan. The son of the

88 division teacher Sun Yuanliang is called Sun Zhongxiang, and a better known name is Qin Han. In 1975, he starred in the movie "The Eight Hundred Warriors" about the defense of the four-line warehouse with Lin Qingxia and Zhang Aijia. Although the "Eight Hundred Heroes" in the 75th edition of "The Eight Hundred Heroes" inherited the consistent style of the political and propaganda films at the time, it did not symbolize the characterization, nor did it pursue the big and comprehensive character. Instead, it creates drama conflicts through the surrounding environment of the four-line warehouse, and Xie Jinyuan is not the absolute protagonist. This was a good innovation at the time.

In "Yaibai", the four-line warehouse defense battle was taken into a group portrait, and a new audio-visual attempt was made with IMAX photography technology.

This is probably the heritage of the eight hundred heroes.
