This world, after all, you have to face it alone

Some friends have traveled to Taiwan these days and talked about this place I am very familiar with. After graduating from university, I will go to a place every year. I have had many very beautiful stories on this treasure island. The following article was written by me when I cycled around Taiwan five years ago: Why did

cycle around Taiwan? I don’t remember the important time that allowed this seed to sprout in my heart. Gradually, only one thought remained: I want to cycle around the island! Maybe it was because I was insanely obsessed with Taiwanese culture when I was in high school and was influenced by the articles and movies I watched; maybe it was because Shan Wushuang in "The Queen of Lost Dogs" saw his dream list and hurriedly finished cycling around the island. I know I am sure. Like the heroine, she denies herself at the beginning, why not hide at home and watch DVDs and blow air-conditioning, so she has to suffer this kind of suffering? But I will sigh at the end that all the hard work is worthwhile; in fact, I am still a person who likes cool things and likes to set himself up. I think learning mathematics is cool, so the university chooses this major; I I also think cycling around the island is cool, so I want to challenge it all my heart; I think the album "Second Life" also played a lot of role.

In October of this year, the day after I resigned, I rushed to Taipei to start my bicycle trip around the island. On the night before I set off for cycling, I was still unsure. Although I am considered a brave female man, I did not do enough homework beforehand and did not do cycling training. (Actually, I did cycling for three weeks in January this year. Training, but died because of a certain rain). I was afraid that I would encounter unsolvable problems in the next ten days. Will I be exhausted? What if I fall down? A flat bike tire or something else? …I was a little anxious until I set off to borrow a bicycle in Bali, Taipei. It was directly reflected that I didn’t want to go out. I dragged myself until after nine o’clock in the morning before plucking up the courage to step out of the hostel.

Day1 Taipei-Hsinchu

I rented a bicycle from Baliwa at almost 11 o’clock at noon. Because I didn’t plan the route, I was temporarily instructed by the shop assistant to walk along the seashore line, so I had only one idea in my mind. Ride is no problem. But... I took a detour before riding. Because not every intersection has clear signs, I have reached the very rugged mountain road in Linkou. In the end, I really couldn't even push the car, so I had to ask someone for directions. There are not many people living in the mountain road, and finally bit the bullet and walked to a temple with a vicious dog at the door, and asked inside. Only when I learned that the mountain road was halfway steeper, I decided to abandon this mountain road and had to walk along the gentler coastal line. After asking a few people about the way, I finally walked to the Western Coastal Highway. When I saw the sea, I almost cried, because when there is the sea, I know my direction. The right hand is the sea and the left hand is the highway. To the south is right. It was already more than one o'clock in the afternoon. At first, the clerk said that it should be okay to ride to Hsinchu at 5 pm, but at this time I have just taken the right path, and now I know that the first day must be hard! ! !

On the first day, the weather was just like my mood, slightly sad. Because the bike does not have a stopwatch, I can only estimate the speed and distance. I didn't bring a watch, and I could only take out my phone occasionally to check the time, so I rode slowly at the beginning. This caused very serious consequences. I was too optimistic about the result. At that time, I was slightly in the mood to take out the camera from the bag on the bicycle frame and take two photos.

When I took the picture below with my camera, I didn't take out the camera the first day. First, the weather was always cloudy and the sea was gray. There was really no beautiful scenery. Second, I began to realize that I was still a long way from my destination, and I didn't even have the intention to stop the car and take out my camera leisurely to take pictures. I was not familiar with the road conditions and traffic signs in Taiwan at the beginning, and I was not sure whether bicycles could be used on some roads, so I spared a lot of detours. Of course, I learned my lesson on the first day, and I rarely made detours in subsequent cycling. The condition of the road appeared.

I didn't ride half the distance until after five o'clock in the evening. At that time, I thought about whether to find a place to stay overnight, and ride a little more tomorrow. In fact, I had this idea until Hsinchu City. Whether or not to ride into the county or city, the little devil in my heart was still caught Defeat and reach your destination! Before setting off, I warned myself not to ride at night or in the rain, because thinking about it, I knew it was dangerous. It broke down on the first day. Taiwan has a large population. There were few people nearby, especially when it was dark, there were no street lights, no traffic, only the sound of the sea, and the faint headlights of bicycles. At that time, I was really scared, and unconsciously forced myself to speed up. So, finally arrived in Hsinchu city at nine o'clock in the evening! ! !

said strangely, my anxiety before I started, disappeared without a trace the moment I rode the bike, a sincere sense of solidity came, without any negative distractions, and I just wanted to move forward. go ahead!

Day2 Hsinchu-Changhua

Because I rode a little on the first day, so I couldn’t stand it the next day. In fact, I couldn’t get up and stayed in bed until more than ten o’clock. After breakfast, I walked to the train next door. I bought a train ticket at the station. Yes, I was very ashamed. The next day I decided to take the train. It was a combination of train + cycling and took a short journey. When I got on the train, I felt at ease, and the sunlight outside the window became much more lovely. Ride from Hsinchu to Qingshui County, and then ride to Changhua City.

Today is a country road, so what I see is mostly rice fields, a whole piece of natural color between yellow and green.

This is the wetland I saw when I first rode on the Zhongzhang Bridge. The sea is on the other side of the bridge. After four o'clock in the afternoon, the sun was still hanging a lot on the land, but this was the best time of the day. The sun was shining on the sea and the whole world was warm. At this moment, the light wind drove me to ride, and the bicycle walked slowly without needing to step on it.

like to ride a bicycle in the afternoon, because I can see my favorite sunset, even if the afternoon is the sunniest time, but it is a very happy thing to feel the naked sun. When I was looking in the mirror at night, I was frightened by the nigger in the mirror. Why did I rush to buy a sunscreen repair water and a mask after only two days. Fortunately, after 14 days, I didn't turn very dark!

Day3 Changhua-Chiayi

An unsurprising day, in fact, it has already arrived in the downtown area of Chiayi, but because I had to find a booked hostel in the downtown area for an hour, I finally found the house before the sun went down. The end of October is the low season for travel in Taiwan, so most of the hostels booked are relatively few people. This "Kasha" has only two residents tonight, one is me, the other is a boy who didn't come back until early in the morning, so I am today In the evening, the rhythm of the whole house is covered, and it is a little frighteningly quiet.

My bike finally showed up! In front of the hostel.

Day4 Chiayi-Tainan

I was a bit lazy two days ago. I went to Tainan early this morning, because there is a university graduate in Tainan who is in the institute and is planning to have dinner tonight. Well, the attraction and motivation of food is really too great for me! Today is the first day of the menstrual period. Originally, I was worried about whether my body would be unwell, but riding a bicycle is more vigorous than usual. I can’t underestimate a woman’s body structure!

took another photo of the bicycle in front of the straw field. All my luggage is on the back rack of the bicycle. In fact, I can reduce some clothes and luggage to make the riding easier. The road from Chiayi to Tainan is very easy to ride, there are very clearly indicated bicycle lanes, there are no detours throughout the journey, and it is easy to reach the destination. It's just that when I was approaching Tainan, there were an unusually high number of traffic lights, and the efficiency was suddenly reduced.

Day5 Tainan-Kaohsiung

Tainan City is not far from Kaohsiung City, (I think it is not far, so I said the previous sentence, and the result is 70km. Okay! Now I think it can be anywhere less than 60km away. Use a bicycle to cope.) So I went to Anping to eat a bowl of bean curd before continuing on the road.

Anping bicycle lane. I have begun to cultivate my re-understanding of the road, seeing that the uphill is not a slope, and I am very happy to see the downhill, even if it is only 1 degree inclined.

Day6 Kaohsiung-Pingtung

Because today’s destination is the overnight stay at the Haisheng Hall, the whole person is very high, plus I bought a watch in Kaohsiung yesterday, The whole person has a concept of time and rides faster.

The unnamed flower on the beach.

is really high. I adjusted the camera shutter time and finally took a picture of my riding state. This dress up every day. Because the night stay at the Haisheng Hall is too rich and happy, it is highly recommended.

Day7 Pingtung-Kenting

I woke up early the next morning to continue arranging a visit to the Aquarium. It was noon to end the whole trip.

met two friends at Haishengguan, so we met together to visit Kenting. Of course they went by bus, so I went to meet them more naturally by bike. After arriving in Kenting, it was exactly the same as my trip to Kenting last year. I went to Houbi Lake for snorkeling. This year I don't need to rely on the lifebuoy, and I will swim with my friends. Eat seafood and go back to Kenting Main Street to continue eating and drinking.

Day8 Kenting-Taitung

The journey is extremely steep and winding. Many people suggest that I take the train. Of course I take this opinion. Cycling around the island is not brave, and those dangers are not necessarily the brave. So I gave up riding, and when I was approaching Taitung Railway Station, I met a couple and a puppy who were also riding in front of me. They knew that I was only a girl riding, so they led me for several kilometers and helped me find For accommodation. Seeing that I gave me bread when I was hungry, not only did I feel pitiful at that moment, but Taiwanese people were really nice!

Day9 Taitung-Yuli Antong

Rice fields, small hills, and psychedelic white clouds can be seen everywhere.

went through Chishang Township and asked for directions to find Brown Avenue. The more famous name is "Kanejo Takeshi Avenue", because Takeshi Kaneshiro shot an advertisement here, and the beautiful images in the advertisement are impressive. When I was cycling to the west, the rice fields were still green. I arrived at Chishang at the end of October, and it was full of golden. I think this is my favorite scene of the whole journey.

The journey from Taitung to Hualien is too far, so the middle stop is chosen as the stop. But because there is no big city in the middle, it is very difficult to find a backpack inn. I finally found this New Zealand Aohua Hot Spring Resort that provides backpack beds. Although the price is a little more expensive than ordinary backpack inns, although it is on a rugged mountain in Antong , But the equipment of the owner and the villa are first-rate, various hot springs are free to soak, and the owner’s homemade tofu and juice are shared for everyone to drink.

Day10 Yuli Antong-Hualien

hot spring hotel owner is very enthusiastic, early in the morning led me to ride the place where the Eurasian plate and the Philippines plate handover, the strange thing is that this handover place is on a bridge. The boss also taught me to pose and motioned me to open these two plates. Then the boss and an English teacher led the ride for a while, and we parted. But the boss’s enthusiasm is really grateful.

arrived in Hualien at night and it started to rain slightly. Fortunately, the accommodation booked was where I stayed last year. The road was still so familiar. Without looking at the map, I was on the right track. Just like in Kaohsiung before, the familiar feeling makes people feel warm, and I'm back again!

Day11 Hualien

Hualien, I like this small city very much, surrounded by mountains and sea, peaceful and quiet, the key is that the food is very, very delicious, that is, you are moved to the state of crying, even if you have eaten it and eat it, you still feel delicious. Because last year’s trip around the island was nostalgic for Hualien, so this time the cycling around the island deliberately arranged for a day and did not continue forward, just stay in Hualien and feel the beauty of Hualien again! The backpack inn where

lives has a Taiwanese girl who changes accommodation there. After work in the afternoon, she will accompany me to the beach to drive the waves and continue to eat. She patiently told me her story and shared with me the beauty of Hualien very carefully. At this moment, she has come to work in the mainland.

Day12 Hualien-Yilan

I left after having breakfast. Today's itinerary is a bit rushed.

through seven starsTan, leave the bike and approach it step by step.

Because the Su-Hua Highway is very steep, one is close to the cliff, and the other is one-way road. Even trucks must be driven carefully, not to mention my small bicycle. But I still tried a little bit and chose to take the train at Chongde Railway Station to solve the most dangerous road. While waiting for the train, I walked around nearby and accidentally passed through a small tunnel and came to an uninhabited coast—Sakashita Coast. There is only a blue truck parked. The shape of the sea here is very similar to that of Qixingtan, but it is quieter, like an uninhabited island.

Day13 Yilan-Taipei

is basically the last day of the entire roundabout. I wanted to have a heroic ride, all the way north. It's a pity that the gods are not beautiful. It started to rain as soon as I rode out of Yilan. Even wearing a raincoat, I was still soaked, thinking, okay, is the last day spent so regretfully? So braved the heavy rain to ride to the nearest train station to buy a ticket. When it was about to get on the train, it was sunny! ! ! After T_T

sat at Songshan Railway Station, I continued to ride towards where I lived. I walked from the small road in the township to the prosperous avenue of the city. I was a bit uncomfortable. I actually started to miss the quiet town. I actually wanted to continue riding. . The bicycle lanes in downtown Taipei do not have very clear bicycle lanes like other places in Taiwan, and most of them are shared with pedestrians. This needs to be very careful!

may be due to the rain today and I especially wanted to eat hot pot, so I asked my friends to eat Lan Kee hot pot. Two months after it was delicious, I still drooled when I saw the photos today. This is also the only food picture in the entire blog post, although looking at the fu in a big stall.

Day14 Taipei-Bali

Riding to Bali from where I live is still cycling. I still take the casual route. If there is no map, I can walk by feeling and directions on the road. When I first started riding, I was fascinated by the roads of Taipei. I was supposed to ride all the way to the northwest, but I rode all the way to the east. After accidentally circling to Xiaos's house in Xinyi District, I started to have a clue, mainly Taipei. The traffic directions in the urban area do not point to the south, east, or northwest, only road names. Fortunately, after going around for more than half an hour, I walked on the right road and slowly approached Bali along the riverside bicycle path.

returned to the place where he rented the bicycle thirteen days ago. It seems that a long time has passed, but it still came to the end in a blink of an eye. The end is also the starting point, I spare a circle. During the ride of

, the sentence that came to my mind the most times was:

this world, after all, you have to face it alone!

No matter how your family, friends, teachers help you, even if you are unbelievably lucky, there is always someone to face difficult moments that only you can solve. We also often have stubborn stubbornness, but only if you figure it out by yourself is the only way to see the light. As I said at the beginning, I like to set up barriers for myself and experience more paths that ordinary people would not actively explore. I believe that after crossing those barriers, I will become stronger.

Before I set off, many friends began to worry about whether my body could bear it. Fortunately, there was no other discomfort except for the pain in my buttocks and sore hands. Before I rode a certain section of the road, some people said that it was very difficult to ride. At this time, I would put a lot of psychological pressure on myself. I was afraid of the unknown difficulties, but I could only bite the bullet. Carrying a bicycle back to Taipei to live a leisurely vacation life? After I walked through, I found that those difficulties are indeed like climbing a mountain that makes people breathless and sweaty. Fortunately, I am the kind of person who maximizes the difficulties, so the real difficulties encountered are also bearable. In the range. Because I have a good sense of direction, I hardly used the map. I only remembered the names of the towns and towns I passed through before I set off. I watched the traffic signs or the direction of the sun and walked forward boldly. Of course, I also want to thank everyone who helped me along the way to make my journey safe and smooth!

As sung in "Some things you can’t do for a lifetime if you don’t do it now", imagine your grandchildren’s pupils full of light, waiting for you to speak, waiting for you to say your most glorious legend, I want to cycle around the island this time Will not be my most glorious legend, alsoIt is definitely the proudest and bravest adventure in my life. After encountering any difficulties or hard work, I will pat my chest and say: I am a biker cycling around the island! ! !

This is also the best gift I gave myself to my 25-year-old. I will continue to move forward with the courage it left behind! :)

blinked, four years have passed, but it feels like something happened a long time ago. If there is still a chance for me to go round the island, I will at least choose a motorcycle.

Wish everyone a wonderful 25 years old. If it hasn’t arrived, you can reserve your energy. If you are my age, plan your feat in the next five years.
