In 2020, more than 20,000 sports events worldwide will be cancelled due to the epidemic, and the economic loss will be approximately 61.6 billion U.S. dollars

Beijing time on April 21, British sports marketing agency Two Circles released a report. According to the report, 49,803 sports events were originally planned to be held in 2020, but due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, only 53% (26,424 games) are currently promising. Two Circle also predicts that the total revenue of the global sports industry in 2020 would have increased by 4.9% over the total revenue in 2019, reaching US$135.3 billion. However, due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the global sports industry revenue will fall to 73.7 billion US dollars, and the economic loss caused by the epidemic will reach 61.6 billion US dollars.

In this year's event, the most severely affected is from April to August. In 2020, it was originally planned to hold 19,542 sports events from April to August. However, due to the epidemic, 18,970 events were postponed or cancelled, and only 572 were held on schedule. In contrast, due to a large number of games being postponed from April to August, these games are planned to be held in September, which will also lead to a surge in the number of events in September, reaching 5467 games.
