South Korea’s movie box office fell to bottom last weekend

"The Invisible Man" and "1917" temporarily ranked the top two at the Korean box office last week, while the re-released "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" ranked ninth.

Beijing News (Reporter Li Yan) On March 10, affected by the domestic epidemic in South Korea, the box office of South Korean movies fell to the bottom last weekend. A total of 230,803 people were sold from Saturday to Sunday, down from 285,663 in the previous week. This is not even half of the box office trips of the previous weekend.

In the greatly weakened box office, "The Invisible Man", "1917" and "The Beasts Who Catch the Straw Straw" ranked top three. Among them, the horror movie "The Invisible Man" won a box office of 651,600 US dollars with 85,171 visits at the weekend, with a total of 2.28 million US dollars. The war film "1917" weekend box office of 490,000 US dollars, with a cumulative box office of 4.13 million US dollars. The local South Korean crime thriller "The Beasts Who Catch the Straws" has a box office of 233,200 US dollars at the weekend and a cumulative box office of 4.1 million US dollars. These three movies together accounted for 62.2% of South Korea’s total weekend box office revenue.

At the same time, in order to fill the vacant schedule due to the postponement of some films, several old films were re-released. Among them, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004) and "Time and Space Traveler" (2013) earned $75,300 and $37,200 respectively over the weekend, ranking ninth and tenth on the box office charts.
