More than 2,600 cases of new coronary pneumonia are diagnosed in one day. Are they happy or worried?

Since December 8, 2019, the first case of pneumonia of unknown cause was officially notified in Wuhan (from being diagnosed with pneumonia caused by the new type of coronavirus) to February 3, pneumonia caused by the new type of coronavirus has been diagnosed nationwide The number reached 17,205, and the number of suspected cases reached 21,558. In just over 50 days, this virus far exceeds the number of SARS diagnosed in China in 2003:

2003 SARS: 527 cases in Mainland China

cumulative cases in Hong Kong, China 1,755 cases

cumulative cases in Hong Kong, China 665 cases

last two The day has reached a state of blowout, and more than 2,400 cases a day do make people feel that the epidemic is too serious.

This situation is not a major outbreak period as Zhong Lao said, and more than half of the two thousand cases were diagnosed in Hubei, the source of the severely affected area.

At 21:00 on February 1, the People's Government of Hubei Province held a press conference. At the meeting, a reporter asked Yang Yunyan, Vice Governor of Hubei Province: Why has the number of confirmed cases increased sharply recently? What are the countermeasures in this situation?

Yang Yunyan responded that in the past three days, there have been more than 1,000 new cases in Hubei province, maintaining a high level.

There are four reasons for this phenomenon:

first: the patients in the incubation period gradually get sick. According to expert judgment, the longest incubation period of the new coronavirus can be up to 14 days. Wuhan City has taken measures from the 23rd to reduce the flow of people. However, patients who were already in the incubation period have recently experienced fever symptoms one after another. In the early stage of the disease, some symptoms are mild, even asymptomatic or personally insensitive, and it is difficult to be detected in time.

Second: Intensified screening efforts. Let everyone know that the whole province is mobilized. In order to get more fever patients to be screened, the role of communities, neighborhood committees, including village committees will be fully utilized, and big data and other technologies will be used to carry out personnel tracking management and intensify the investigation.

Third: Simplification of diagnosis and treatment procedures. As long as there are symptoms of fever and cough, they are all suspected cases, so the procedure is simplified, and after the samples are submitted for testing, they can be diagnosed as confirmed cases, and the entire diagnosis process will be greatly accelerated.

Fourth: The detection power is strengthened and the speed is accelerated. Since January 27th, the state has allocated 200,000 new coronavirus testing reagents to our province in two batches. 78 medical institutions, disease control institutions and 13 third-party organizations have carried out nucleic acid responses to the new coronavirus. Significantly improve our province's new coronavirus detection capabilities.

As for the big outbreak, Academician Zhong Nanshan once said in an interview with Hubei Satellite TV that this kind of growth is not a big outbreak, but a partial outbreak.

In addition, it is not a bad thing that there are so many confirmed cases in Hubei at this time. That is to say, these people who have been diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia will have to be discovered sooner or later. On the contrary, if one more day is found, there will be less infection to other people. Relatively speaking, This is not a bad thing, but a good thing.

As for the turning point of this new type of coronavirus, Wen Yumei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said: The signs of turning point are: First, the suspected infection has decreased, but the incidence has decreased.

These two conditions are not met. It is said that there is an inflection point, but the inflection point appears in advance. One is whether we can develop immunity as soon as possible after infection, and the other is early detection and early isolation. This may make the inflection point appear earlier.

Although we still don't see where the turning point is, I believe that as long as the people of the whole country are united and scientifically prevent and control, we will definitely be able to defeat this disease as soon as possible.
