Xiamen Short Film Week will be held in Huandonghaiyu New City. By then, more than 100 big names in the music, culture, and film industries will also gather in Xiamen to discuss the development of young directors and the diversified development of short films. This event was guided by the China Film Association and the Office of the Leading Group for the Development of the Xiamen Film and Television Industry.
HiShorts! Xiamen Short Film Week focuses on short films from 3 to 40 minutes. These works are different from short online videos. They adopt film production specifications and condense the original intentions of young directors. They are the stepping stone to enter the film industry. The
short film week started on September 11th. A total of 1,929 works from around the world were solicited. After a preliminary review, 110 shortlisted films were selected. During the short film week, there will be concentrated screenings, divided into five units: plot, documentary, animation, experiment, and video. At the same time, excellent works of the first two years and short films of famous directors will be screened. The
review jury includes the Golden Rooster Award for Best Screenplay Winner Ami, the famous documentary director Du Haibin, etc. The final jury is also a gathering of celebrities. The Cannes Palme d’Or nominated work "Burning" screenwriter Wu Zhengmei, and the director who won two Oscars Ke Wensi and Professor Ding Yaping, a famous film scholar, have all confirmed their participation in the final trial. The works of the judges will also be screened during the short film week, and they will also attend the post-screening dialogue and exchange session to communicate face-to-face with fans.
An awards ceremony will be held on December 21st, and there will be many stars attending the scene.
