Sizhou Opera originated in the northern part of Jiangsu Province, which was called Haizhou in ancient times. Actors have passed down from generation to generation that during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, three folk artists, Zhang, Ge, and Qiu, often mixed local folk songs and ditties into impromptu ditties during their work breaks. Because of its beautiful melody and touching singing voice, people call it "soul-pulling tune", which means that the singing voice is so beautiful that it seems to pull away people's souls.

Lu Shibin, the national intangible cultural heritage inheritor of Sizhou Opera: was first called Zhou Guzi, and some people call it Lahouqiang, because the (high) sound it plays and the voice (voicing) are at the back. In the end, it was called Lahun Tune because of its charming singing voice and it was given as a gift from the masses.

Along with the migration of people, "Lahun Tune" has been inherited and developed in Bengbu, Suzhou and other places in Anhui. During this period, artists not only integrated local folk songs and flower drums, but also learned costumes, instrumental music and kung fu from mature operas such as Peking Opera. This area used to be called "Sizhou", and the new type of opera that was nurtured was also called "Sizhou Opera".

This is a performance sent to the countryside by the Sizhou Theater in Anhui Province. This theater is a protected unit of the intangible cultural heritage of Sizhou Opera. The conditions for outdoor performances are poor. But the actors focused on every move, trying to attract more audiences for this ancient drama.

Sizhou Theater of Anhui Province, located in Bengbu City, is one of the largest professional theater troupes of Sizhou Opera. The small whiteboard at the entrance of the rehearsal hall is full of performance plans from Mid-Autumn Festival to National Day. Most of these are charity performances.

Twenty years ago, this troupe had more than 80 actors and was able to rehearse many traditional costume plays. Now, the number of the troupe has been reduced to 51 people. His name is Gong Jianqiang, a college student majoring in Internet and New Media, and a well-known local folk Sizhou opera actor in Bengbu. He learned Sizhou Opera at the age of eight and has participated in more than ten local folk theater troupes. He has also won many awards in domestic opera competitions. Today, Gong Jianqiang is a popular Sizhou Opera anchor on the Internet.
