A total of 257 contestants entered the finals of this competition, including 51 in the opera (drama) category, 99 in the music category, and 107 in the dance (acrobatic) category.
After several months of careful preparation, the opera (drama) finals took the lead in the Experimental Theater of Yunnan University of the Arts. There were a total of 8 contestants in the first competition, all selected by the Yunnan Provincial Peking Opera Theater. The troupe is the only professional Peking Opera troupe in Yunnan Province.
