As a work of "Spring of Sino-French Culture - Special Presentation of the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and France", the Guangzhou Grand Theater produced the immersive comedy opera "The Wonder Doctor", using Bizet's opera as a blueprint for a contemporary immersive adaptation. Excellent new generation opera singers from all over the country create opera works that can be enjoyed by all ages. This is also the first immersive adaptation of the opera since its birth.

The music of "The Wonderful Doctor" has rich French national elements, and this version of the production also has unique French style, such as fairy tale-style stage design, French special drinks for the performance, etc. The play is supported by the French Consulate in Guangzhou, and Pei Jiayue, the French principal of the Alliance Française Guangzhou, serves as the French language instructor. Pei Jiayue pointed out that the Guangzhou Grand Theater's production of the immersive comedy opera "The Wonder Doctor" promoted Sino-French cultural interaction and brought French classics and French culture to contemporary Chinese audiences.

"The Wonderful Doctor" is the third immersive comedy opera produced by the Guangzhou Grand Theatre. This time, the original creative team collaborated for the third time and once again upgraded the production model and performance lineup of the immersive comedy opera. Its performance troupe has expanded to more than 30 people, and for the first time it has added a classic opera four-part duet, bringing a more layered listening experience to the audience. In addition, "The Wonderful Doctor" specially joins a children's chorus group and children's theater actors to create a fairy tale feel from both the music and drama composition levels, and create an opera for all ages.

"Children's singing and performance have an inherent magic that can naturally take the audience to another dimension." Director Pete Gordon said.
