Veteran soldier Kong Wanshan (played by Simon Yam) picked up an abandoned baby boy on a hill in his twilight years. The grandfather in the film is played by 69-year-old actor Simon Yam. His film experience has created many classic boss images. This movie was a complete game changer for him. In the movie, he changed his image of a "domineering tough guy" and interpreted a simple mountain man with a stubborn and cute personality. He is down-to-earth and extremely subversive at the same time, bringing a refreshing and fresh feeling to the audience. Lou Yixiao, who played the mother, also successfully shed the label of "Hu Yifei" and refreshed the audience's perception with her professionalism. In the movie, she not only showed off her dancing skills and her versatile side, but she also performed equally well opposite Simon Yam, portraying the image of a single mother in a state of confusion vividly.
Talking about the creative process, director Zheng Chunyu, who was born and raised in Tai'an, said that in order to create a more full and three-dimensional character image, he spent more than a month following a Mount Tai mountain picker, from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, eating and drinking together every day. Chat and get to know this special group deeply until the characters in your mind gradually become clear and three-dimensional. The long-term contact with Mount Tai's mountain lifters also gave the director the strength to persevere from the inside out. Choosing the filming time in winter was also a deliberate decision by the director. "The lead has receded and the colors have faded away. This is the true state of Mount Tai, and what is shown is the muscles and bones of Mount Tai." The actors braved the severe cold to film at minus 28 degrees Celsius. It also reflects the perseverance and fearlessness of the mountain carriers.
