Two years later, Xiong Zhuying set up her own business. At first, there was no recognition and no market. Xiong Zhuying could only walk around the streets and knock on doors with her partners, looking for performance opportunities.
"It was really hard at the time. I was looked down upon all the time and my income was very small. I wanted to give up countless times. But when I really wanted to change my career, I couldn't let it go."
It was this "reluctance" that supported him to persist in storytelling. In 32 years, he became an intangible inheritor of storytelling in northern Shaanxi from a folk artist. Xiong Zhuying said, "Northern Shaanxi storytelling has a magical power. It is not only a reflection of local culture, but also shows the charm of Chinese folk art."
"The audience for storytelling in northern Shaanxi is generally older, and many young people know little about it. But now, many young people accept and even like this art through games."
Regarding this cross-border integration, Xiong Zhuying said that he is very He welcomed it, but at the same time, he also said he wanted to "maintain tradition."
"Strive to interpret the original art of storytelling in northern Shaanxi and sing classic things."
As an inheritor, Xiong Zhuying hopes that through the popularity of northern Shaanxi storytelling, more young people will inherit this skill.
“After the heat is over, you still have to calm down and make art down-to-earth.”
