Recently, Chengdu Wuhou police successfully eliminated a criminal gang that committed fraud through an online live broadcast platform, arrested 16 suspects, and have taken criminal coercive measures in accordance with the law. At present, the amount involved in the case has been found to be more than 5.3 million yuan, and more than 3,000 netizens have been victimized. The Wuhou police quickly established a task force led by the Anti-Fraud Center and with several police stations in the jurisdiction as member units. After more than a month of visits and investigations, the task force found that in addition to Ms. Li, there were many victims of similar scams. In the ensuing summer public security crackdown, the task force successfully targeted a fraud criminal gang and found out the gang's personnel structure, crime methods, and activity patterns. In early July, the gang was wiped out and 16 suspects were arrested.

"These criminal suspects used online live broadcast platforms to fabricate scripts and characters in advance, heighten the atmosphere during the incident, promise high returns, and blacklist the victims afterwards to commit fraud. This is different from traditional telecommunications fraud cases and also It has put forward higher requirements for our investigation and evidence collection work," said Lin Yang, deputy director of Wuhou Public Security Bureau.
