"Dongguan East" is the first work jointly created by Dongguan and Happy Mahua. It is a masterpiece of stage art based on the more than 200 million builders who traveled from Shannan to Hainan to Dongguan to devote themselves to the cause of reform and opening up. "Dongguan East" takes the country girl Wang Xueying as the protagonist and tells the story of her struggling to pursue her dreams in the city of Dongguan with the spirit of daring to think and dare to fight. The play tells the story of reform and opening up and the development of Dongguan City from the perspective of contemporary youth, and tells the stories of ordinary people in the early stages of reform and opening up from the perspective of youth. On the stage, green trains, Big Brother, handbag factory workshops, ice rinks... When these images bearing the mark of the times were presented to the audience, they evoked the memories of many viewers. The stories of migrant workers’ struggle and hard work, and the artistic space full of sense of the times and immersion, carry the experiences of countless people’s youthful struggle, turned into touching songs, leaving the audience moved.
