This bird has white feathers all over its body, its head and upper neck are black, its bill is black, long and downward, and its feet are also black. After identification, it was determined to be a national first-level protected wild animal - the black-headed white ibis. Through preliminary inspection, it was found that the black-headed ibis may have been injured by an external impact during flight. Its wings were fractured and the injury was serious.
The staff treated him and bandaged him, and transferred him to the Beihai Management Station of Tengchong Beihai Wetland Provincial Nature Reserve for further maintenance. Currently, this black-headed ibis can stand and eat independently. A staff member from the Tengchong Branch of the Baoshan Management Bureau of the Gaoligong Mountain National Nature Reserve said that because the black-headed white ibis was seriously injured, it will be released into the wild at an appropriate opportunity after a later recovery assessment.
The Black-headed Ibis is a bird of the genus White Ibis in the family Pelicanidae. It is a large wading bird with a body length of 65 to 76 centimeters. It is active in swamps, lakes, riverbanks, ponds and rice fields with rich vegetation. The "International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Endangered Species" (IUCN) is listed as a near-threatened (NT) species; it is included in China's "List of National Key Protected Wild Animals" and is recognized as a national first-level protected wild animal. According to relevant records, the Black-headed Ibis is sparsely distributed in the wild in my country. This is the third record of the Black-headed Ibis in Yunnan Province.
