Surprisingly, Deadpool 3 will be the only Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie to hit theaters this year, after more than a decade of multiple releases every year. Despite this, the film has left many viewers looking forward to the return of Ryan Reynolds's hot-tongued mercenary and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

As we all know, the current MCU is no longer the giant series it once was, because the studio has not released an "Avengers" movie for a long time.

After a series of disappointing movies, the MCU seems to be getting worse each year, such as "Captain Marvel 2", "Ant-Man: Quantum of Madness", "Thor: Love and Thunder" and " Eternals ".

However, some, including filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, believe that Deadpool 3 will be the movie that gets the iconic cinematic universe back on track and brings more to the multiverse saga. But timing-wise, Legends of the Multiverse has long since lacked excitement compared to the last film. So given the recent developments in the mcu, it's going to take a lot more than Deadpool 3 to put the series back on track.

Deadpool and Wolverine don't belong mcu

Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds was a huge success at 20th Century Fox, so Marvel Studios was happy to continue the series despite not being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reynolds has never been a huge star, and now that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans have stepped down, he could become the new face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The other main star of this movie is Hugh Jackman, who has been playing superhero characters for over 20 years, so he is almost synonymous with superhero roles.

The prospect of bringing these two characters together is still very exciting and is the main attraction of this movie, especially since Jackman was confirmed to be dead in "Wolverine 3", and his return was once considered almost When it's not possible.

However, these two characters have not been, or even are, connected to the mcu before, and Marvel Studios needs to explain why in the story. Fox's X-Men films have succeeded at times, but never quite reached the heights of the MCU, and certainly, few franchises have.

People should now think of "Deadpool 3" more as Fox's "X-Men" movie, such as "Days of Future Past", rather than an MCU project, because in addition to Reynolds and Jackman, there are Rumor has it that Jennifer Garner's Elektra and Halle Berry's Storm will also appear in the film (something to look forward to).

mcu needs consistency to succeed

mcu The reason for such huge early success was its groundbreaking consistency. In its first three incarnations, no movie had a rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes until 2021's The Eternals broke that streak.

mcu was a brand that audiences could trust, but that has changed with the release of its recent movies and TV series. You know, reviews can make or break a cinematic universe - just look at the dceu and other failed cinematic universes.

Of course, not every MCU project after Avengers: Endgame was a failure. " Spider-Man: Homeless ", "Guardians of the Galaxy 3", and "Loki" are relatively better recent works, but the slightly better trend of these projects has not stopped "Captain Marvel 2" or "Ant-Man and "The Wasp: Quantum of Madness" has fallen back.

mcu relies on continuity, and its latest titles include Captain Marvel 2, What If? ” Season 2 and “Echoes,” which certainly did little to change the series. It gradually lost its luster after a series of bad movies.

Deadpool 3 may be the beginning of the MCU's return to the top, but subsequent projects must live up to their underlying quality.

Future MCU projects are fraught with difficulties

Currently, MCU has been undergoing changes behind the scenes, including a re-evaluation of plans and a reduction in output. Daredevil: Rebirth received a new production team and limited its season, while Captain America 4 underwent changes several times during filming, with action sequences rumored to be tweaked again. Meanwhile, Fantastic Four and Blade 15 are still expected to launch after being announced a few years ago.

While none of this is new to Marvel Studios projects, the studio tends to fall into old habits in post-production that can lead to them losing their charm.

There is no guarantee that all Marvel Studios projects after "Deadpool 3" will be successful, and depending on how things unfold, some projects have little chance of success. There's not even a guarantee that Deadpool 3 will be a huge success.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has an unprecedented record of consecutive hits. Given the inherent difficulty of making good movies, coupled with the ever-increasing expectations and demands of audiences, Marvel Studios will likely never be able to achieve the same record again. The audience must be mentally prepared for this.

The multiverse is no longer compelling enough

Deadpool 3 will be yet another superhero movie dealing with the multiverse, which has become a cliché in the genre. It would have been fun to see a fan-favorite character return with interesting possibilities, but the concept has lost its luster after being used so frequently in multiple movies.

"Spider-Man: No Homecoming" is a good example. Part of the reason why the movie was successful was because of the multiverse angle, but even its success did not allow Marvel to return to its original track.

Deadpool 3 After Spider-Man: Across the Universe, The Flash, Spider-Man: Homecoming and other multiverse projects, audiences may not be as receptive to past projects as they were a few years ago. Excited about the return of the "X-Men" characters. Moreover, "Deadpool 3" also requires viewers to not only understand the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but may even have an understanding of Fox's abandoned "X-Men" series in order to obtain the most satisfying movie-watching experience.

There's no doubt that Deadpool 3 will be a much-needed win for Marvel Studios after the past few years haven't gone their way. Since "Avengers: Endgame", the studio has entered a new era, but it has faced severe challenges such as the death of Chadwick Boseman, the firing of Jonathan Majors, and strikes.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has also had to move on, moving away from franchise cornerstones like Captain America and Iron Man. Finding a new core face for the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been a thorny issue, not to mention that Spider-Man is still technically owned by Sony.

Deadpool may not become the defining face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe because his character traits alone don't have that potential, but he may be the studio's most important character right now. Nonetheless, the success of "Deadpool 3" cannot single-handedly push the Marvel Cinematic Universe back to its peak.

Chances are nothing will bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe back to the glory days of Phase 3's prime. However, "Deadpool 3" can once again get the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving, but for this series to be truly successful, subsequent projects must also meet the quality that audiences expect.

hopes that "Deadpool 3" can be the perfect prelude to the next Avengers project, just like "Thor: Ragnarok" achieved before "Infinity War".
