Tonight, the release ceremony of the 2023 "China Internet Literature Influence List" was held in Shanghai. This is the 10th list launched by the Internet Literature Center of the Chinese Writers Association, including the online novel list, IP influence list, overseas communication list, and newcomer list. 30 online literary works and 10 new writers are on the list.
Hu Bangsheng, member of the Party Leadership Group and Secretary of the Secretariat of the Chinese Writers Association, pointed out in his speech that in October 2014, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the Forum on Literary and Art Work, which provided fundamental guidance for the development of online literature. Over the past ten years, the online literature community has conscientiously studied and implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech, continuously improved the level of creation, enriched subject types, strived to meet the diverse spiritual needs of the people, and vigorously promoted the process of mainstreaming and high-quality literature. The achievements of online literature are the result of adhering to the party's leadership, implementing the party's literary and artistic policies and the integrity and innovation of the online literature community. They benefit from the prudent and inclusive social and cultural environment from all walks of life, and benefit from the exploration of new literary and artistic creation in the Internet era. The path benefits from the integrated development of the mass production of online literature and the operation of the Internet economy, as well as from the full cooperation and synergy of all walks of life in the industry.
He emphasized that in 2023, the quantity and quality of online literary works will increase, IP conversion will be strong, international communication highlights will be highlighted, theoretical comments will make breakthroughs, and team building will be solidly advanced, but it will also face new opportunities and challenges. First, the form of online literature creation needs to be broken through; second, industry development faces transformation challenges under the wave of new technologies; third, online literature and online audiovisuals need to empower each other and develop in a coordinated manner; fourth, online literature going overseas faces competitive pressure from foreign platforms. He said that in the new year, the Chinese Writers Association will organize the online literature community to study and implement Xi Jinping’s cultural thoughts, strengthen creative support, promote IP transformation, increase international communication, strengthen talent team building, and promote the high-quality development of online literature.
Among the 10 works on the online novel list, "Shanghai Fireworks" and "Kunlong" reflect social and industry changes in the new era; "The Weird Fairy" and "The Ninth Agricultural Science Base" use Chinese style and unconstrained imagination, Integrating various genre elements to innovate the narrative genre of online literature. Among the 10 works on the IP influence list, there are "Lotus with Auspicious Patterns" and "Apocalypse" adapted into film and television dramas, "Wei Junzi" adapted into animation, and "Wei Junzi" adapted into a short drama. "Invoke" and so on, showing the strong momentum of audio-visual transformation of online literature. The 10 works on the overseas communication list, including "The Ring of Fate", "Changfeng Crossing" and "The Hidden Sea Flower", have attracted and impressed readers from different cultural backgrounds around the world with their profound connotations of traditional Chinese culture and positive image of China.
10 young online writers under the age of 30, including Jiang Yuannian, History Department Wolf, and Xu Erjia’s Cat, have appeared on the newcomer list with outstanding creative achievements.
's works on the list have four major characteristics - the novel creation is centered on Chinese modernization, giving full play to the subject matter and narrative advantages of online literature, and the quantity and quality of the works have been improved simultaneously. The transformation of online literature into audio-visual content has reached a new level. The role of online literature IP in promoting new formats such as film, television, games, animation, and especially online mini-series has been further highlighted. Online literature and online audio-visual content have shown mutual empowerment and common development. The overseas influence of online literature has further expanded, AIGC technology has improved the efficiency of going overseas, and Chinese online literature narrative techniques have been widely used for reference in overseas literature, film and television. "Generation Z" has become the main force in online literature creation, and youthful narrative techniques have been deeply integrated with current popular elements, setting off a new wave of content innovation. also held a ceremony for the entry of the listed online literary works into the National Edition Library. The 123 works on the China Internet Literature Influence List from 2019 to 2023 have been included in the National Edition Library in the form of digital collections, marking a further acceleration of the mainstreaming and high-quality process of online literature.
