The nomination list for each award of the 32nd Shanghai Magnolia Theater and Performing Arts Awards (hereinafter referred to as the "Magnolia Theater Awards") was announced on April 15.
There are a total of 40 actors who have won the Magnolia Drama Award nominations this year. A total of 2 people from Guangdong have been nominated for the "Protagonist Award", namely: Huang Chunqiang, a national first-class actor from Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theatre, and a national second-class actor from Foshan Cantonese Opera Institute (Foshan Cantonese Opera Theatre) Actor Li Jiangwei.
Shanghai Magnolia Theater and Performing Arts Award is one of Shanghai's famous cultural brands. It was founded in 1989 and has been held for 31 times as of 2023. As of the 31st Magnolia Drama Awards, there were more than 2,200 participating plays, more than 3,800 applied actors, and 826 award-winning actors.
A total of 83 plays were accepted for the 32nd Magnolia Drama Awards, with a total of 152 actors participating. The number of plays and actors reached a record high in the history of the Magnolia Drama Awards.
Among them, there are 20 Shanghai repertoires, 60 repertoires from other provinces and cities, and 3 foreign repertoires. These repertoires include 54 opera repertoires, 23 drama repertoires, and 6 music and dance repertoires, involving Peking Opera, Kun Opera, Yue Opera, Sichuan Opera, Ping Opera, Cantonese Opera, Jin Opera, Xi Opera, Huai Opera, Shanghai Opera, Flower Drum Opera, Qu Opera, There are 13 opera types of Fujian opera and 4 drama art categories: drama, musical, dance drama and children's drama.
A total of 40 actors were nominated for the 32nd Magnolia Drama Awards, including 20 for the Leading Actor Award, 10 for the Supporting Actor Award, 5 for the Newcomer Leading Actor Award, and 5 for the Newcomer Supporting Actor Award. This year's Magnolia Drama Awards Special Contribution Award was awarded to the famous performing artist Lu Ruiying for her outstanding contribution to the cause of Chinese drama art.
It is reported that the 32nd Shanghai Magnolia Theater and Performing Arts Awards Ceremony will be held on the evening of April 26 at Shanghai Cultural Plaza, and the list of awards will be announced at that time.

1. Huang Chunqiang
Huang Chunqiang is currently the deputy director of the second troupe of the Guangdong Cantonese Theater and is also the main actor of the troupe. Ying Gong Xiaowu, Chou Sheng He studied under the famous Cantonese opera performing artist Ding Fan.
In the 18 years since he has been working, he has created more than hundreds of characters. His representative works include the Cantonese opera "Bahe Guild Hall", "Tiger General Ma Chao", "Havoc in Heaven", "Capture Zhang Sanlang Alive", etc.; he has won the top 15 and third place in the first national Monkey King Competition. He won the silver medal in the Guangdong Provincial Drama and Performing Arts Competition, the gold medal in the fifth, sixth and seventh Guangdong Provincial Drama and Performing Arts Competition, etc. In 2016, he was selected as a young cultural talent under the Guangdong Special Support Program.
On October 28, 2023, Guangdong Cantonese Theater's Cantonese opera "Bahe Guild Hall" went to Shanghai to perform. Huang Chunqiang competed for the Shanghai Magnolia Drama Performing Arts Award for the Protagonist Award for his role as the male lead "Kwong Xinhua" in the play. He has solid martial arts skills and is capable of writing and martial arts. He vividly portrays the straightforwardness, loyalty and righteousness of the male protagonist "Xinhua", and vividly creates the artistic image of "Xinhua", the leader of Guangfu artists. In the
play, Huang Chunqiang brilliantly performed a series of difficult martial arts skills and movements based on the southern style, such as "Standing on the stick and volleying", "Stepping on the feet to fly with two flying swallows", "Shoveling the chair and pushing on the chair", "High platform barbarian" and so on. Powerful and relaxed, the audience was eye-opening and full of praise.
2. Li Jiangwei
Li Jiangwei, a national second-level actor, a civil and martial arts student of Foshan Cantonese Opera Theatre, the inheritor of Foshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Project (Cantonese Opera), and a cultural talent in Foshan City. He graduated from the Guangdong Cantonese Opera School. In 2002, he became a disciple of the Cantonese opera master Mr. Luo Jiabao and became his disciple;
won the gold medal in the 9th and 10th Guangdong Provincial Youth Performing Arts Competition, the 2018 Foshan Youth and Middle-aged Performing Arts Competition gold medal, and the 2023 Foshan Youth Performing Arts Competition. He was awarded the title of "Top Ten Stage Rookies" at the 15th Guangdong Arts Festival; he has starred in plays such as "Thirteen Langs of the South China Sea", "General's Order" and "Seventy-two Tenants".
In the drama "The Thirteenth Son of the South China Sea", Li Jiangwei plays the role of Jiang Yuliu (The Thirteenth Son of the South China Sea). His expressive performance highly restores the prototype of the character in the play and has been highly praised by experts, peers and theater fans.
