On July 22, 2009, in Chongqing, I was fortunate enough to enjoy the first total solar eclipse in my life on the roof of my house. I still clearly remember that moment, when time seemed to stand still, day suddenly turned into night, and when the moon completely covered the sun, Bailey's beads and diamond rings appeared in the sky. It is an indescribable and soul-shaking beauty. Looking back now, I feel so lucky to be able to witness such astronomical wonders in my own home without leaving home. However, total solar eclipses are extremely rare, less than once a year, and only appear in a narrow area on the earth, forcing eclipse enthusiasts to travel all over the world. After becoming an astronomy enthusiast, I also began to save money and time to pursue it. Ternate, Indonesia in 2016; Oregon in the United States in 2017; and the Atacama Desert in Chile in 2019, all with success.
This year, we come to the United States again to chase the fifth total solar eclipse in our lives. However, this journey was nerve-wracking from the beginning. The sudden change in weather forced us to change our original observation point from the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas to the U.S.-Canada border in Maine, disrupting our entire schedule.
is about to set off, and I hope that in two days, everyone will have good weather, once again appreciate the miracle of the universe, and feel the unique romance between the sun, the earth and the moon.
the eclipse is calling and i must go !
