On the evening of March 18, the much-anticipated 2023 Drinking Bar Industry National Awards Ceremony came to an end at the Shanghai Mall Theater.
For the Chinese bar industry, 2023 is a year of restoration and rejuvenation. During this year, we also witnessed more and more exchanges between the international bartending family: Chinese bartenders went abroad, overseas bartenders visited one after another, and held various exciting guest bartending and other activities. We are very pleased to see that tonight more than 800 bar industry insiders, brand partners and media guests from home and abroad have been invited to attend this event to raise a toast to celebrate the achievements of the Chinese bar industry in the past year. The
awards ceremony kicked off with a Jameson-themed green carpet warm-up party held at the Shanghai Mall Retail Plaza at 3:30 pm. At 5 o'clock sharp, the welcome reception opened grandly in the atrium of Shanghai Mall. There are about 20 drink-loving green bars on site managed by internationally renowned bartenders, presenting guests with a range of cocktails, mixed drinks, wine, beer and soft drinks, including shingo gokan (New York sip & guzzle), nico de soto ( danico in Paris), daniele dala pola (kaona in Miami), terry kim (alice in seoul), alastair burgess (happiness forgets in london), john nugent (the diplomat in hong kong), nikita matveev (the old man in hong kong) allen fang (dreamsicle in shanghai), filippo sanchi (lennon's, bangkok) and so on.
Welcome Reception
When the clock reached 6:30 in the evening, the curtain of the Shanghai Mall Theater slowly opened, and the award ceremony officially began. This year's national awards ceremony has set up a total of 18 awards. Only the elite among the elites in China's bar industry can step onto this glorious podium. This year’s list of winners includes industry leaders from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Changsha, once again demonstrating the vitality and diversity of China’s bar industry.
It is worth mentioning that one of the most important awards, "Bartender of the Year", was won by Tian Yao from Chongqing flavor lounge. In 2021, the winner of this award is his mentor and founder of flavor lounge Zhang Min. This touching moment proves how important and wonderful the legacy between bartenders is. "Jimmy (Zhang Min) is a very capable and constantly improving person. There is always something for me to learn from him, and I also learned the ability to continue learning from him. After winning the Bartender of the Year, I will look forward to the future. For me, it’s still the same, which is to make a good glass of wine for the guests and provide good service every time,” Tian Yao said after receiving the award.
