The "Convocation Committee" election for the first session of the 11th Taiwan Legislative Body was held on the 29th. The Kuomintang League had different attitudes on whether to cooperate with the People's Party in the "Convocation Committee" election. Chief Congressman Fu Kunqi believed that it could be "open mind", but Chief Deputy Secretary-General Lin Siming believes that the party group should maintain its subjectivity. Secretary-General Hong Mengkai said today, "I will do my duty. I think there is no need to be polite in 'calling committees', but suggestions can be accepted on the issues and the plans will be moved in a progressive direction." He also Three suggestions were made to the future “calling committee” elected by the Kuomintang.
Hong Mengkai said that after the meeting, the media or the outside world asked whether there would be blue-white cooperation in the subsequent "calling committee". Will the Kuomintang give one or two of the "calling committee" seats to the People's Party as a courtesy? In principle, it will be discussed at tomorrow's party group consensus camp. All major strategies of the party group need to be decided by the party group meeting, so the party group jointly decides on the final result and will move in that direction.
But when asked about his personal opinions, Hong Mengkai said bluntly, "I would say that we should do our duty and do not need to be polite, but we can adopt the opinions of various representatives of the people in a timely manner to arrange the agenda," especially for major bill deliberations, including "whistleblower protection." Review of relevant bills such as the "Law" and "Absentee Voting", etc., early review, early discussion, early request to the administrative agencies of the Taiwan authorities to propose corresponding versions, and jointly promote the "amendment" of the law in a progressive direction.
For the next eight "calling committee members", Hong Mengkai suggested: 1. Prioritize the review of bills that everyone is concerned about and speed up the "legislative" process. 2. Maintain a positive interaction with the People's Party and People's Representatives. Temporary proposals can be signed by each other based on professional judgment and jointly supervise the ruling party. 3. When encountering issues of major social concern, we can communicate and change the agenda at any time, and invite the heads of relevant departments to report to the "committee" in person.
"Do your duty!" Hong Mengkai said that the Kuomintang should no longer be gentle, courteous and thrifty, respecting the consensus decision made by the final party caucus; but maintain good interaction and subjectivity.
