Defendant Yang*yao published an article against Ms. Tong Liya through the "Digital Home" website he operated (the registered domain name is shumacn.com). The article contained fabricated, unfounded and seriously defamatory inaccuracies. The statement was made in an attempt to attract public attention and increase website traffic by derogating Ms. Tong Liya’s personality. After trial, the court determined that the defendant Yang*yao’s behavior constituted an infringement of Ms. Tong Liya’s reputation. The defendant Yang*yao must publicly publish an apology statement on the “Digital Home” website (the registered domain name is shumacn.com) for three consecutive days.
