At the event, Musk cited Italian-American physicist Enrico Fermi's "Fermi Paradox" to explain his desire for humans to colonize Mars. Fermi once asked, if there are many advanced extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way, why can't we see any evidence of spacecraft or detectors?
Musk said that human consciousness is like a small candle in the huge darkness, and we must do our best. Do your best to make sure this candle doesn't burn out.
He maintains that humanity can only continue if the low birth rate in the Western world is reversed and humanity (civilization) manages to become a space-faring civilization.
Previously, the second test launch of SpaceX's "Starship" rocket exploded, but Musk believed that this launch was another step towards making humans a cross-planetary species.
