Reporters learned from the Shanghai Peking Opera Theater that the famous Peking Opera performing artist Tong Xiangling passed away in Shanghai on the afternoon of December 2, 2024 at the age of 89.

Tong Xiangling, born in 1935, is a Peking Opera actor, one of the first batch of representative inheritors of Peking Opera, a national intangible cultural heritage project, and a national first-class actor. The role of Yang Zirong in the modern Peking Opera "Taking Tiger Mountain by Wisdom" is widely known and well received.
