Rong Rude was born in Shanghai in December 1934. He is a famous Russian and English translator. He once taught at Shanghai Russian College (the predecessor of Shanghai International Studies University).
Since he devoted himself to translation work in the 1950s, Mr. Rong has translated a large number of excellent Russian and English literary works, mainly including Orwell's "Animal Farm", Solzhenitsyn's "Cancer Ward", and Dickens's "Oliver Twist" , Stevenson's "Treasure Island", Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray", Thackeray's "Vanity Fair", Dostoevsky's "The Idiot", "The Brothers Karamazov", etc.
