The Cantonese opera "Liang Hongyu" is based on the legendary story of Liang Hongyu, a heroine of the Southern Song Dynasty. Through the heroic deeds of Liang Hongyu and her husband, Han Shizhong, a famous anti-gold general of the Southern Song Dynasty, who jointly fought against the Jin soldiers, it tells the story of how the couple were wise and brave when the country was in crisis. Having both sides and uniting to fight against the enemy demonstrates the brilliance of their humanity in making sacrifices and choices in the face of national justice. This historical story not only left a mark in history books, but also has strong vitality among the people, inspiring generations of Chinese people.

Cantonese opera "Liang Hongyu" was originally created and rehearsed by Guangzhou Little Red Bean Cantonese Opera Troupe (the predecessor of Guangzhou Red Bean Cantonese Opera Troupe) in the 1990s, with the famous Cantonese opera performance master Hong Xiannu serving as artistic director. Since this version did not leave any video data, this revival of "Liang Hongyu" is undoubtedly a brand-new creation. The script was adapted by Zuo Jiexing, a young screenwriter of the Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theatre, and directed by young director Wu Haojian. It also features national second-class actors from the Red Line Female Arts Center Ge Ruijuan plays Liang Hongyu, and Liang Wenchao, a national second-level actor from the Guangzhou Cantonese Theater, plays Han Shizhong. Cantonese opera performing artist and Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award "Second Plum" winner Ou Kaiming is specially invited to play Yue Fei, supporting the two rookies and jointly interpreting this historical legend.

Ou Kaiming said that the Cantonese opera "Liang Hongyu" is an excellent play that is both ideological and artistic, embodying the efforts of red-line female teachers. This rearrangement has young actors playing the leading role, which reflects the Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theater's long-standing "education through opera" "people" talent training concept.

Ge Ruijuan said that the new version of "Liang Hongyu" retains the main plot and characters' careers of the old version, and reorganizes the plot to make the main line more prominent and the characters more refined. At the same time, the play makes extensive use of traditional banghuang tunes and adds novel stage design, giving the whole play a new brilliance based on tradition.

Meng Jing, director of the Red Line Female Art Center, said that this time the center and the Guangzhou Hongdou Cantonese Opera Troupe of the Guangdong Cantonese Theater once again worked together to organize the revival of the Cantonese opera "Liang Hongyu" in the hope that while promoting the inheritance and development of Cantonese opera art, it would also allow more people to Young people inherit genre art and get exercise and growth in creation.
