first Youth Film Festival was the College Student Film Festival. It was founded in Communication University of China in 2006. It settled in Xining in 2011 and was officially renamed Xining First Youth Film Festival. Its original intention is to continue to discover and recommend young filmmakers' first and early film works, so as to inspire young people's creative courage and artistic confidence. Since its establishment, the First Youth Film Exhibition has become a comprehensive film display platform covering multiple sectors such as film festivals, film markets, production cultivation and public culture.
This year’s film festival has director Guan Hu as the chairman of the main unit jury. During the festival, the jury will review the final 13 feature films, 7 documentary features, 12 live-action short films and 7 animated short films to determine the best feature film, best director, best actor, 10 main unit promotion honors including Best Artistic Exploration and Best Screenplay.
In addition to the main competition unit, the 18th First Youth Film Exhibition also simultaneously established rich parallel competition units such as "First Ultra Short Film", "First Frame" and "First Pioneer Creation", aiming to use an independent evaluation perspective. , evaluate and promote the works of young filmmakers. In 2020, director Shao Yihui participated in the 14th First Youth Film Exhibition Venture Capital Fair and won an award with the script of his feature film debut " Love Myth ". In 2021, "The Myth of Love" was released and became a dark horse in the film market that year. Teng Congcong, the director of the 2024 hit drama "My Altay", whose first film " Send Me to Qingyun " was also selected for the First Youth Film Exhibition Venture Capital Meeting in 2014.
