Last year, the case of the dismembered body of 28-year-old Hong Kong socialite Cai Tianfeng shocked society. The police arrested many people involved in the case, including four members of Cai Tianfeng’s ex-husband’s family. However, during the interrogation process, the defendant's defense lawyer pointed out that the content of the surveillance video footage related to the case had not been obtained from the police. On July 8 this year, the case was arraigned for the third time in the Eastern District Magistrates’ Court of Hong Kong to handle the procedure of transferring the case to the High Court for trial.

However, during the interrogation process, the defendant's defense lawyer pointed out that the content of the surveillance video footage related to the case had not been obtained from the police before, and even if the video was received, it would still take time to seek legal advice. The prosecutor countered that the police were willing to provide the video and had twice asked the defendant to provide a hard drive to store the video data. Since the defendant was currently unable to obtain the video content, the magistrate urged the defendant to submit the hard drive as soon as possible during the arraignment, and decided to adjourn the case to the afternoon of September 30 for another hearing, during which the three defendants involved in the case need to continue to be remanded in custody.
