html June 10th, the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, marks the Dragon Boat Festival again.

There are dozens of festivals in Chinese history, but there are only a handful of festivals like the Dragon Boat Festival that have a history of more than 2,000 years and are still active today.

When talking about the Dragon Boat Festival, we cannot avoid the great man Qu Yuan.

As early as the Warring States Period, Qu Yuan became the symbol of the Dragon Boat Festival.

Later, no matter what dynasty or generation, on this day, people always praised his spirit and told his stories over and over again.

Why did Qu Yuan have such great influence?

I found the answer in CCTV's large-scale humanistic documentary "Qu Yuan".

This documentary takes the historical rise and fall of the Chu State as the background and tells the story of Qu Yuan's rough life from becoming an official, receiving important positions, to being demoted, exiled, and finally committing suicide.

Qu Yuan's greatness lies in his spirit.

He is not only an extraordinary scholar and outstanding politician, but also the epitome of thousands of ordinary people on the road to study and truth.

If you understand the documentary "Qu Yuan" and understand Qu Yuan's spirit, you will know why we have to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival today.

1

At the beginning of the documentary, it was mentioned that fate gave Qu Yuan an excellent start at the beginning.

He was born into a famous family in Chu State. His ancestors had been officials in the court for generations. Qu Yuan himself was addicted to books since he was a child, and he only knew people well.

When he was only in his early twenties, he was appointed as the left disciple of Chu State, which was equivalent to the position of prime minister.

At this time, the Chu State implemented a hereditary system. Most of the nobles relied on their own power to enjoy themselves extravagantly and oppress the people.

Qu Yuan is an exception.

He was unwilling to gnaw the flesh and blood of civilians for his own selfish gain, and was determined to return a clear political environment to Chu State.

So he opposed all opinions and implemented drastic reforms in the country:

not only broke the hereditary system of aristocrats and advocated the promotion of talents, regardless of origin;

also severely punished corruption and restricted landowners from annexing land, which greatly reduced the burden on farmers. .

Under Qu Yuan's series of measures, the Chu State's national power flourished.

However, it didn't take long before bad luck struck.

Many nobles were suppressed as a result. They regarded Qu Yuan as a thorn in their side and a thorn in their flesh, and wrote to impeach him repeatedly.

Under pressure, King Huai of Chu demoted Qu Yuan to a lowly official. After

was demoted, Qu Yuan did not recover.

He still practiced it and personally taught the children around him, asking them to study hard and take the destiny of the country as their own responsibility.

Under the influence of Qu Yuan, a group of truly insightful talents were born in Chu State.

The common people were also grateful to him. From traffickers to peasant women, everyone admired him and admired him.

The kindness in his heart made Qu Yuan win the hearts of the people.

Confucian master Ma Yifu once wrote a poem: "I know that the universe is vast, but I still pity the green grass and trees."

Throughout history, there are countless people in high positions, but most of them are just for their own selfish desires and regard the common people as ants.

There are very few people like Qu Yuan who care about the world.

Nowadays, we live in an era of vanity and impetuousness. Many people do whatever it takes to fight each other for a little fame and fortune.

Qu Yuan told us with his story:

When people climb up, they cannot step on others.

A person with integrity will never rely on his own vested interests to bully others, but care about others from the bottom of his heart and understand the joys and sorrows of others.

We are all born as human beings, and may we all have compassion.

Don't judge people based on their status, don't treat people based on their status, treat everyone around you with a sincere and kind heart.

The temporary frustration in his official career did not defeat Qu Yuan. What really made him sad was the fatuousness of King Huai of Chu. The

documentary mentioned that in the second year after Qu Yuan was demoted, Qin counselor Zhang Yi came to lobby.

Zhang Yi used the old land of Chu State as bait, saying that Qin State would voluntarily give up 600 miles of land, instigating Chu State to sever diplomatic relations with Qi State.

The short-sighted King Huai of Chu took the bait and immediately agreed to Zhang Yi.

Qu Yuan remonstrated with blood and tears, saying that Qi and Chu had a close relationship, and without the obstruction of Qi on the border, Chu was bound to perish.

The king of Chu not only refused to listen, but also exiled him to a distant place.

results, everything is as expected by Qu Yuan.

After Qi and Chu broke off diplomatic relations, Qin went back on its promise and only gave up 6 miles of land perfunctorily.

When he was desperate, King Huai remembered Qu Yuan and re-appointed him as an envoy to Qi to restore the friendship between the two countries.

Qu Yuan ignored his personal grudges and allowed himself to be sent as he pleased.

However, when he returned from Qi with the good news, he found that King Huai of Chu had betrayed his trust again.

During his mission, King Huai of Chu was bewitched by Qin again and wanted to break up with Qi.

Qu Yuan once again remonstrated, but what he got in exchange was further exile.

was demoted three times, and his grievances can be imagined.

But Qu Yuan always had a glimmer of hope. As long as the king of Chu was still there and the state of Chu was still there, he would have a chance to be seen and re-appointed.

So every time he hit rock bottom, he never gave up on himself.

He still took the revitalization of Chu as his own mission, and stayed silently, waiting for the King of Chu to wake up. Once

is re-appointed, he will immediately be full of fighting spirit.

A person as high and powerful as Qu Yuan would have a bad life, let alone us ordinary people?

When we were young, we were high-spirited and full of enthusiasm.

Only when he was beaten hard by society did he realize that in the face of the most real life, ideals are nothing but fragile fragments.

Flowers and applause are just a fluke.

Ups and downs are the normal state of life.

In this ever-changing world, if we are people who are used to the trough, we will not be afraid of the difficulties in life.

When people recall Qu Yuan during the Dragon Boat Festival, they also encourage themselves:

When life is at a low point, you must endure it.

Because before dawn, we will definitely experience a long period of darkness. Sometimes we find it particularly difficult, but it may be the final test of fate.

Ji Xianlin said: "On the road of life, everyone is a lonely traveler."

Loneliness is the norm in life.

Some people will join in the crowd, even if they smooth out their edges, and forcefully fit into a circle that is not suitable for them.

Some people are always alone, willing to be lonely, and always stick to their original aspirations.

Qu Yuan is the latter. The

documentary mentioned that Qu Yuan became a loner.

In his life, he was framed by villains and betrayed by foolish kings. He spent almost half of his life in exile and suffered all the hardships in the world.

But none of this changed his noble character.

He was born into a noble family, but he was unwilling to sit on a high platform and gnaw on the flesh and blood of common people.

He was framed repeatedly, but he was unwilling to abandon the fate of the country for personal grudges.

Regarding the gloomy officialdom, he said:

The whole world is turbid and I am alone in my purity. Everyone is drunk and I am alone in my sobriety.

Regarding the suffering of the people, he said:

I have to take a long breath to cover my tears, lamenting the hardships of the people's livelihood.

Regarding being demoted and exiled, he said:

I still have good intentions, and even though I died nine times, I still have no regrets.

No matter what situation fate threw him into, he never succumbed to the dim world.

In 278 BC, the King of Chu fled and the Chu Kingdom collapsed. Other officials either defected to other countries and changed hands, or they pretended to be crazy and became commoners.

Qu Yuan did not choose to live.

He doesn't want to continue wandering in this world, a homeless ghost.

On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month of this year, Qu Yuan stood on the bank of the Miluo River and threw himself into the river.

For the righteousness of his family and country, for his political ideals, and for his Chu Dynasty, Qu Yuan finally sacrificed his life.

The great writer Su Shi once commented: "My writing will never be as good as the one in case, only Qu Zi."

Only because Qu Yuan's words were written with his life.

Every word is filled with blood and tears.

Throughout his life, he could not be ashamed of heaven or humbled by the earth, and his heart was full of light and magnanimity.

It can be said that Qu Yuan raised the character of Chinese literati to an insurmountable height. This is also one of the meanings of the Dragon Boat Festival that should be conveyed to the world.

In this dirty world, how many people can remain unchanged like him?

How many people have been infected by bad habits and become greedy, arrogant, hypocritical, worldly... and finally live the way they once hated.

is clean, which has become a rare quality.

For the rest of our lives, I hope we can all be honest and honest.

Just as the two lines of poems say: "I would rather die holding the fragrance on the branches than blow it down in the north wind."

After Qu Yuan's death, people spontaneously came to the riverside to worship.

The fisherman was worried that the fish and shrimp would eat his true body, so he threw the rice balls into the river.

The pharmacist poured realgar wine into the river in an attempt to stun the dragon so that it could not hurt Qu Yuan.

Later, these gradually evolved into the customs of "dragon boat racing", "eating rice dumplings" and "drinking realgar wine" during the Dragon Boat Festival.

Behind the ceremony lies the people's infinite love for Qu Yuan.

So, why do Chinese people celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival?

Because although Qu Yuan died, his spirit will live on forever.

In him, we see a great feeling for the world, an unkillable vitality, and an original intention that will not regret even after nine deaths.

And these spirits constitute the soul of the Dragon Boat Festival.

They have long transcended individuals and times, and have been deeply integrated into the blood of the Chinese people, inspiring generations of Chinese people to work hard and fight for their personal ideals and the righteousness of their family and country throughout their lives.

Weiwei Quzi is one person through the ages.

Now is the Dragon Boat Festival, and the rice dumpling leaves are fragrant.

Between the green and the white, people’s good expectations for the future are stored.

Like , let us remember Qu Zi together, let the soul of the festival return to its place, and the righteousness will last forever.

Let us wish each other good health, may everyone be healthy physically and mentally, may the society be prosperous and stable, may the mountains and rivers be safe, may the country be peaceful and the people be safe.
