"The Miser" is a masterpiece by the French comedy master Molière. It was first performed in France in 1668 and received an enthusiastic response. The play uses comedy to reveal human nature, creating the classic miser image of "Abagon" in the history of comedy, allowing audiences around the world to appreciate the charm and influence of French classical comedy. As a world-renowned foreign classic, "The Stingy Man" also has a deep connection with Beijing People's Art Theatre. In 1959, the play appeared on the People's Art Stage as one of the plays dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and was staged again in the 1980s. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. The performance of this work is not only a return and exploration of classic works, but also has important significance for international cultural exchanges and mutual learning. Audiences can learn about French culture and experience the exchange and dialogue between the two countries' drama cultures. At the same time, this rehearsal focused on interpreting classical stories with current thoughts and perspectives, which also reflected the enduring vitality of classic works.
The play is co-directed by Lin Cong, a director who has directed works such as "My Poor Marat" and "Farewell My Concubine", and Yang Jiayin, a young actor and director who has performed well in plays such as "Teahouse" and "Under the Red Flag" . They defined this work as an "abnormal comedy" - the creators not only re-dramatized the original work, added a layer of dramatic time and space, but also boldly explored the presentation method. The play is based on a rural theater troupe performing a play, and uses the chaotic "accidents" and ridiculous "mistakes" during the performance to create comic effects. In addition, the character's own personality has a sense of humor. Make the whole work more interesting. The play uses caravans, wandering troupes and other forms, which not only organically combines with the content of the work, but also restores the performance form of the author Molière's era. "Molière once led a wandering theater troupe to perform for more than ten years." While watching the show, the audience can feel the ancient flavor of an old European theater troupe. "Although this is an ancient story, it is performed for people today, so the thoughts we convey are what we want to express at the moment." The director said.

Representative works; some are newcomers to the stage who have just been admitted to the hospital, are full of creative enthusiasm, and have a promising future. The energetic combination makes this creation full of vitality and confidence. "Encourage young people to move forward boldly."
