According to news from the official website of the Beijing Film Academy on March 1, the Beijing Municipal Party Committee recently approved that Comrade Hu Qiang was appointed deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of the Beijing Film Academy.

Hu Qiang (alias: Hu Yaozhi) was born in October 1969. He is a professor, doctoral supervisor, and a national first-class director. Graduated from the Beijing Film Academy with a bachelor's degree in film performance, a master's degree in art, and a doctorate in directing. He once served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Beijing Film Academy.

As a director, screenwriter, actor and producer, he has directed many TV series, movies, stage plays and other works, and left many vivid images on the screen.

His main works as a director of long-form TV series: "In Time" (nominated as one of the "Double Top Ten" TV Directors), "Happy Alley", " Call Me Sanmei", "Emotion" "War", "The Happy Life of the Gu Le Family", "Bone Language" and "The Ancient Secret Agreement in the Book of Mountains and Seas".

His stage play director works: "Eye, Ear and Soul", "Thunderstorm", "The Godfather/Hamlet".

Hu Qiang was awarded the title of the top ten film workers in the second Beijing Film Festival in 2007. His starring role in "Hello, I am Xiang Fei" won the 10th "Five One Project" Outstanding Radio Drama Award for Spiritual Civilization Construction issued by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Nominated for the Director's Debut Award at the 26th China Golden Rooster Awards. In 2009, he won the Beijing “May 4th Youth Medal”. In 2010, he won the title of "Educator Model" of Beijing Film Academy.
