With the joint efforts of the whole family, , bought a 120m2 duplex suite in an old community in Beijing's West Fifth Ring Road. However, when the family visited their new home, they were all dumbfounded: all they saw were narrow, dilapidated, and depressing "group rental"-style cubicles, which were completely different from the spacious and smooth double-story space they expected! It turned out that due to various renovations by the previous owner, this duplex house was turned into n small bedrooms for rent, and the originally warm and harmonious small home was divided into pieces. Not only that, in order to open up space for the rooms, the previous owner made the stairs narrow and steep; the circulation lines in the house were chaotic and not suitable for the daily living of a large family; due to the lack of public spaces such as the dining room and living room, it became impossible to renovate the house. . In addition, the house has serious aging and decay problems, and there are many safety hazards; garbage is everywhere, cockroaches and geckos are crawling everywhere, and the hygiene situation is worrying...

But since I’m not from a major, I can’t realize the perfect plan. Can I ask my classmates for help? But faced with interior design that is not in line with their majors, top students in the Department of Architecture also have difficulties; choose professional consultation and spend a lot of money to get drawings? But the client was not satisfied with the same package... In the end, A Lei and Shanshan decided to commission "Dream Renovator", hoping to transform this group rental house, which was divided into 10 small rooms, into a customized , personalized and livable wedding home. And how will this "divided home" transform into an ideal residence where the whole family can be happy and suitable for all ages?

The remaining problems of "group rental housing" are extremely troublesome

Designer Liu Heng has made many ingenious ideas to eliminate hidden dangers

In this episode, designer Liu Heng takes on the challenge of renovating "group rental housing". Although it was her first time to participate in "Dream Remodeler", she was very comfortable and experienced in various design and decoration processes. Regarding the division of the house, she took drastic measures and planned to demolish many walls to create interconnectivity between the functional halls, thereby making the overall space more open and brighter. Regarding the stairs that affect the movement of the house, Liu Heng chose a translation position to fully release the space above the stairs and improve the comfort and safety of going up and down the stairs. In addition, she also used the sloped roof on the second floor to increase the design and expand storage space. Not only that, she also paid attention to the water leakage in the old community and solved the water seepage problem from the root of the attic. She also installed sound insulation cotton and insect repellent heating film throughout the house to solve the noise, warmth and insect infestation problems at once.

However, this transformation did not go as smoothly as expected. Due to the complex decoration structure of the old community, many walls could not be demolished, and the original design draft ideas that had been repeatedly considered could not be realized, so Liu Heng had to tear it down and start over. Another big problem is the heating pipes surrounding the house: due to the unreasonable design at the beginning of the building's construction, the pipes affected the floor height and the aesthetics of the decoration; and the former owner's private renovations and installations made the heating pipes The wiring is more complicated and difficult to change; and the radiator pipes are connected to the entire building, which can affect the whole body. So, faced with structural walls that are restricted everywhere, how will Liu Heng connect the functional halls of the house to meet the client's living needs? Faced with the difficult technical problems of pipelines, how will Liu Heng eliminate safety hazards, ensure heating supply, and skillfully use the "invisibility technique" on exposed heating pipelines?
