Yesterday, light to moderate snow or sleet occurred in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Henan and other places, and significant rainfall occurred in Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and other places. It is expected that today, heavy snowfall will mainly occur in the central and eastern parts of Inner Mongolia, with light snowfall in Hohhot; rainfall will continue in the south, and the rain belt will extend from northern Guangxi to the Yangtze River Delta region. Rainfall will generally range from moderate to heavy rain, with local heavy rain. The first cold wave in 2024 is also getting ready. It is expected that from the 20th to the 23rd, the cold wave will bring severe cooling to the central and eastern regions. After penetrating into the south, it will also bring heavy snowfall on a large scale.
It is expected that there will be light snow or sleet in parts of central Inner Mongolia, western Liaoning, Xinjiang along the Tianshan Mountains, Gansu and Hexi, northern and southern Shaanxi, Shanxi, western Henan, eastern Shandong, northern Anhui, and northern Hubei from day to night today. Among them, some areas in central Inner Mongolia, northern Shaanxi, and northern Hebei experienced moderate to heavy snow (5 to 9 mm). There were moderate to heavy rains in parts of western Jianghuai, most of Jiangnan, southeastern Southwest China, and northern South China. Among them, there were local heavy rains in northern Guangxi and other places.
Tomorrow, the rain and snow will temporarily weaken, and it will be mainly rainy in most of the south. On the 21st, the south entered blizzard mode, with severe to heavy snowfall and local heavy snowfall in some areas in the eastern part of the Western Sichuan Plateau, southwestern Hubei, northwestern Hunan, eastern Chongqing, and northeastern Guizhou.
Meteorological experts reminded that in the next week, there will be frequent rain and snow in the central and eastern regions, and the temperature will fluctuate greatly. Even South China, which has rarely been favored by cold air, will also experience severe cooling. The temperature in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Fujian will drop below 10℃. , the lowest temperature in Nanling will drop to freezing point. The public is reminded to take measures to prevent wind and warmth, and the elderly and patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases should pay special attention to protection; widespread snowfall in the south is very detrimental to transportation, and it is recommended that the public should try to avoid traveling during the affected periods.
