Recently, prepared dishes are becoming the "new favorite" on the dining table. From raw material processing to packaging, storage, and transportation, a series of standardized procedures simplifies the tedious preparation steps of buying, washing, and cutting vegetables.
For catering companies or restaurants, prefabricated dishes can save labor costs and shorten meal delivery time. But for consumers, pre-made dishes lack the fresh taste of ingredients. The vast majority of catering businesses will not take the initiative to mark which dishes are homemade and which are pre-made dishes in the menu or ordering applet. People "go to restaurants" because they want to taste freshly fried delicacies and the "pot gas" of dishes, but the practice of businesses concealing the use of prepared dishes damages consumers' right to know and right to choose.
It is recommended that catering businesses publish relevant information on the use of pre-made dishes, and mark whether they use pre-made dishes in the menu dish information; reach cooperation with third-party take-out platforms, and publicize the use of pre-made dishes on the webpage. At the same time, catering businesses can also further explain the food safety information of prepared dishes, and publicize information such as the supplier of prepared dishes, shelf life of prepared dishes, and purchase date, so that consumers can choose freely. Producers of prepared vegetables should also establish systems and regulations for the storage and use of prepared vegetables to ensure food safety. Relevant departments should actively advocate and encourage catering businesses to publicize the use of prepared dishes, strengthen effective supervision of the catering market, and maintain market order and consumer rights.
