Duntai formally sued Novatek and claimed nearly NT$800 million in compensation

driver IC factory Duntai Technology stated on August 29 that the touch and driver integrated single-chip product (TDDI) model "NT36672A" sold by Novatek, the driver IC factory, was suspected of infringing the "touch display device" owned by Duntai. , driving circuit and driving method" and other related patents.

Yesterday (September 17), Duntai officially filed a lawsuit against Novatek by its subsidiary, and asked Novatek to compensate nearly NT$800 million (about 178 million yuan) in compensation during the first three quarters of this year. It is worth mentioning that Duntai emphasized that additional damages will be added in due course in accordance with the actual infringement situation.

According to Duntai’s financial report, the net profit per share in the first half of this year was NT$0.36, the net profit attributable to the owners of the parent company was NT$104 million, and the cumulative revenue for the first eight months was NT$7.025 billion, an annual increase of 0.8 %. In the first half of this year, Novatek's net profit per share was NT$4.11, and the consolidated revenue in the first eight months was NT$34.035 billion, an annual increase of 10.5%.

As for the accusation by Duntai, Novatek said that it will proceed in accordance with legal procedures and will not affect its business, and the operating outlook for the third quarter will remain unchanged.

Taiwan media reported that Duntai and Novatek are evenly matched in the touch and driver integrated chip (TDDI) market this year. Based on different development methods, Duntai originally named the above products as IDC chips, and competed with the Synopsys camp, but after entering this year, Novatek seems to have a tendency to catch up.
