Cross the Yalu River

Back in October 1991, I came to the side of the Yalu River , stood on the Dandong side of the Yalu River Broken Bridge, and stared at it for a long time.

on a cruise ship, approaching the border of Sinuiju, North Korea, on the other side. There are almost no houses along the shore, and I saw soldiers in twos and threes, leisurely on the steps of the shore, with beautiful faces and dull eyes.

Behind them is a simple building with green tiles and white walls. They look at Dandong with envious smiles at the corners of their mouths, and I return a friendly look. It is mutual respect and greetings across the river.

I followed their gaze and looked back at Dandong, which can be summed up in one slogan: Socialism is in full swing. I was also secretly surprised. It turned out that there are many high-rise buildings on the border of Dandong, which is very prosperous.

On the Yalu River, the two sides are compared, both are socialism, and reform and opening are the dividing line.

The time is back to the present. On October 12, 2022, I wandered by the Yalu River for the third time and set foot on the repaired Yalu River Broken Bridge . On the basis of the Qiaotou Sentinel Building, a tolled bridge fort is encircled.

I set foot on the broken bridge for the third time and crossed the middle line of the Yalu River. On October 19, 1950, the Chinese People's Volunteers , led by Commander Peng Dehuai, crossed the Yalu River in batches from here.

Peng Dehuai himself took a few entourages and entered North Korea in advance by jeep from the Hekou Highway Bridge.

Mao Anying also crossed the Yalu River from the Hekou Highway Bridge.

On the morning of November 8, 1950, the U.S. military blew up the bridge in order to prevent the volunteer army and its munitions from crossing the river, and then also blew up the estuary highway bridge.

But it can't stop the pace of Chinese Volunteer Army Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea for two years and nine months. In 1950, the economic power and military power of China and the United States were very different.

Our army showed military might, created miracles one after another, and beat the US military back to , 38th line, .

I went to South Korea four times, and I went to Pyongyang in October 2009, all of which were admired by the same ethnic group in the Northern and Southern Dynasties.
