Tokayev: SCO is the most successful international organization in the world today

On September 16, President Tokayev attended the enlarged meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and delivered a speech, saying that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is the most successful international organization in the world today.

He said that the continuous expansion of Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a strong proof of our organization's growing international authority and influence. The modern world has entered a dangerous period of serious deterioration of the international situation, and there are more and more means of sanctions and pressure. An important feature of the current era is the severe lack of mutual trust. On the basis of mutual trust, equality and open dialogue, we are faced with the task of fully unlocking the potential of the SCO. To enhance the effectiveness of the Organization and to develop multilateral cooperation in all fields that serves the interests of all participating countries. Continue to further improve the organization's activities and strengthen the forecast of major trends in and outside the SCO space.

The SCO's activities convincingly demonstrate the fundamental principles enshrined in its statutory documents: combating extremism, terrorism and separatism; protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity; non-interference in internal affairs. The top priority of the SCO remains to strengthen regional security. It is necessary for

to continue the implementation of the previously adopted document for joint activities in this subject area. Therefore, I propose to strengthen the cooperation between defense and special forces in the military-political field. Strengthening the cooperation between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Central Asian Regional Information Coordination Center plays an important role in this regard, which is particularly important for combating cybercrime and creating an infrastructure to protect the organization's information space. We must transform the SCO into a global economic platform.

Today, our organization brings together the world's thriving economies with enormous human, resource and technological potential. The gross domestic product of the SCO member states accounts for about a quarter of the world's GDP, or more than $23 trillion. We have the most abundant energy resources, coal, rare metals and renewable energy resources. The SCO's international prestige and popularity are increasing, and as a result, it has grown year by year. This is a high demand and convincing testament to the organization. In my opinion, the SCO is the most successful international organization in the world today.

We support the SCO to develop various forms of economic cooperation, gradually transitioning to the free flow of goods, capital, services and technology. The implementation of large-scale economic projects within the framework of the SCO makes it a growth driver for the organizational space. We are faced with the task of ensuring proper funding for the organization of project activities. For this, we have all the necessary economic mechanisms, strategies, detailed plans and interaction plans. All that's left is to implement them.

I would like to talk separately about the priority vehicles for economic cooperation - transit transport, food and energy security. A major achievement in enhancing logistics connectivity is the adoption of the concept of cooperation among SCO countries to develop efficient economic and transport corridors.

We are discussing rail transport in the direction of "Central Europe" and international transport routes across the Caspian Sea, as well as plans to build a third rail crossing on the borders of Kazakhstan and China. I invite SCO partners to take advantage of this opening. The

"Kazakhstan- Turkmenistan - Iran " railway has opened up the shortest route from East Asia to the Persian Gulf countries, with huge potential. Transit and transport cooperation between Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries is booming.

We welcome the implementation of promising projects to ensure that the countries of the region are connected. We support the expansion of transport routes between Central and South Asia and the development of "North-South" and "East-West" corridors across Europe and Asia. In general, we favour the establishment of new and modern intermodal corridors and logistics centres.

In addition, President Tokayev spoke about food and energy security.

President Tokayev concluded by saying, I believe that we will carry out multi-faceted and fruitful cooperation within the framework of this Organization, and inject strong impetus into the development of all countries.
