The application task of the Wentian experimental cabin is progressing smoothly and the plants are in good condition

Today (August 29th), Chinese Academy of Sciences released the phased progress of manned space engineering space application missions. Currently, the payloads are in good condition and working stably. The experimental unit containing Arabidopsis seeds and rice seeds has been installed in the universal cultivation module of the life ecology science experimental cabinet of Wentian experimental cabin, and now the plants have germinated and grown.

On July 24th, the Wentian experimental module was successfully launched at the Wenchang Space Launch Site in my country. The Wentian experimental module is the second module of the Chinese space station and the first scientific experiment module. On July 29, instructions were injected through the ground program, and the plant cultivation experiment was launched in orbit. At present, the seeds of Arabidopsis thaliana and rice have been successfully germinated. The Arabidopsis seedlings have grown four leaves, the tall rice seedlings have grown to about 30 cm high, and the dwarf rice is also 5 to 6 cm high, and they are in good growth condition. Zhao Liping, the chief designer of the Wentian experimental module mission of the

space application system: The preliminary plan is that around the end of September, the astronaut will carry out the first collection of plant samples and plant plants, which is about in the Shenzhou 14th crew. Harvest the plant samples before returning.

CCTV reporter Zhang Chunling: The model next to me is a one-to-one restoration of the overall structure of the life ecology experimental cabinet in the Wentian experimental cabin. You see, this part is the main part of our experiment. In this biological culture module, Arabidopsis is planted on the left, and rice is planted on the right. They are grown and cultivated in the full process and cycle in their respective suitable growth environments. At the same time, we have three other experimental modules, which may gradually open their experiments in the next space missions.

The goal of this plant culture experiment is to complete the research on the whole life cycle of rice from seed to seed in space, and to explore the possibility of using space environmental factors to control the flowering of plants to maximize plant production efficiency in a small enclosed space approach, aiming at the food security problem of human long-term space exploration. Zhao Liping, the chief designer of the Wentian experimental cabin mission of the

space application system: Like our experiment with the plants launched with the cabin, the astronauts will put them in the glove box after the collection is completed. 80 ℃ temperature zone, and then its seeds will be collected by the astronauts and placed in the 4 ℃ temperature zone. Before the astronauts return, they will put it in our descending cold pack under passive life protection conditions. Do deeper research.
