Xinjiang cotton is boycotted, can we only passively oppose it?

Recently, the news that Xinjiang cotton was boycotted by companies such as H&M, Uniqlo, Nike, etc. I believe everyone is already familiar with it. Everyone is very angry, because we all know that the BCI certification organization is based on rumors, not based on facts, to stop from issuing BCI cotton licenses in Xinjiang, and it is not only a company but also for all companies in Xinjiang. Furthermore, H&M, Uniqlo, Nike and other companies used the title to boycott Xinjiang cotton. The question is, what else can we do besides resisting?

First of all, at the personal level, I believe that boycotting is not destroying, and should not discriminate against compatriots who wear the above clothing brands. What has been bought should be cherished, because the property rights already belong to the buyer. Buying is not a waste, and destruction is even more waste. Everyone should treat their property and compatriots who wear the above brands rationally. However, stop buying these brands of clothing.

Then, the problem this time also exposed our company and even the country's insufficient understanding of certification/standard formulation. Because of historical reasons, many international standards and certifications are initiated, formulated, and led by foreign countries. my country participates in the formulation of less and leads less. (Based on my daily knowledge, I currently know that many companies in my country have participated in the formulation of the 5G standard. I hope you can correct me.)

first say some digressions. We always seem to think that doing our own thing is good, and we often ignore other people. May be a violation of us. For example, the creator of VCD Jiang Wanmeng thinks that it does not make much sense not to apply for a patent. Later, foreign companies such as Sony , Panasonic, Philips and other foreign companies preemptively registered the patented technology of VCD, so that my country's home appliance companies need to apply for VCD production from these foreign companies. Paying patent fees; South Korea is the first to apply for the "Dragon Boat Festival". This is well known, but in fact, South Korea has successfully applied for tenon and tenon technology, Feng Shui, Danqing, Zhu, Armillary Sphere and other traditional Chinese cultures. This is what happened when my country strengthened its cultural heritage application after the "Dragon Boat Festival" was successfully applied for. To borrow the words of Director Yang Jiechi of : " we think of you too well". We tend to treat other people with kindness; we often think that we are doing well, and we think that we are not afraid of the shadow crooked; our own things can not be taken away by others; therefore, we often only know how to make up for it after we have suffered a loss.

Therefore, this certification is also true, we found that doing a good job is not enough. Because of the right to speak of these certifications/standards, in others, he can make judgments not based on facts. In my opinion, this incident exposed our deficiencies in international standards/certifications.

Therefore, in addition to continuing to strengthen scientific and technological innovation, we must strive to master more core technologies and have the right to speak; on the other hand, we must also actively participate in the formulation of international certification and standards, and, according to the actual situation, we can unite with other countries , Initiate suitable certifications and standards. "First-class companies make standards, second-rate companies make brands, and third-rate companies make products." I believe that our country now has the ability and confidence to formulate truly fair and just standards and certification systems.
