World Bread Champion Wu Baochun’s new store recently opened for trial operation in Shanghai and has been welcomed by mainland consumers. However, influenced by some comments on the Internet, such statements as "Wu Baochun Taiwan Independence" caused doubts and heated discussions among netizens. In response to this, Master Wu Baochun said in an exclusive interview with Overseas Network: “I am a baker born in Taiwan, China. Taiwan is the land that nurtures me. Being a Chinese is my pride. I insist on an unchanging attitude." He said that for the recent news of "Wu Baochun Taiwan independence", due to personal work reasons, he failed to respond in time, which caused a certain misunderstanding and caused a lot of trouble to everyone. He apologized.
He said that I now declare that I have never published any remarks that "you will not come to the mainland if you starve to death". I support the "92 Consensus" and hope that through my own efforts, I can respond to the "Measures to Promote Cross-Strait Economic and Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation" by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and contribute to the economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
Previously, my team and I had been longing to open stores in mainland China. Due to the immature conditions, we hope to be prepared enough to meet you again. After several years of polishing, we came with sincerity. For the opening of the store in Shanghai, we have been preparing for more than a year, and we tried to use local ingredients and raw materials to make bread with local characteristics. Master Wu Baochun won the French World Masters of Bread in 2008 and 2010 with wine-stuffed longan bread and lychee rose bread. These are also two signature products of Wu Baochun Bakery, which are very popular in Taiwan.
