On September 2nd, the Ginkgo Hall of Xijiao Hotel, Beijing was crowded with top scholars in the field of semiconductor academia in China.

They gather here for the common memorial. Numerous scholars and academicians lined up to speak, recalling bit by bit of getting along with a physics master.

Mr. Yang Zhenning, 97 years old, came to the venue and gave the master a compliment:

"Yellow equation, yellow book, leading phonon physics; strict self-discipline, diligence, can be called a great master."

The "Master of the Generation" is Mr. Huang Kun. On that day, it happened to be the centennial birthday of Mr. Huang Kun.

Yang Zhenning recalled that his contact with Huang Kun began in 1941 at the Southwest United University. At that time, Huang Kun graduated from Yenching University and went to Southwest Associated University as an assistant teacher in the Department of Physics. In a few years, Huang Kun and Yang Zhenning, who was still a son of Southwest Union University, became lifelong close friends. In 1971, Yang Zhenning returned to China for a visit and reunited with Huang Kun in Beijing.

Yang Zhenning feels deeply about Huang Kun's experience after returning to China. He said: "Huang Kun has spent the very complicated decades with his unique ability to adhere to principles, and he has made tremendous achievements, which have had a huge impact on the development of the country and the nation."

: "He is the first person in phonon physics"

"Huang Kun has talked many times that his main research field in his life is phonon physics. It should be said that Born is the founder of lattice dynamics, and Huang Kun played a role. The role may not be comparable to Born, but in terms of re-explaining the theory of lattice dynamics from the point of view of quantum mechanics, in further studying various specific physical processes in which phonons participate, and in the development of phonon physics, Huang Kun is The most important pioneer has a great international influence-he is the first person in phonon physics."

was co-sponsored by the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, the Chinese Physical Society, and the Jiu San Society to commemorate the 100th birthday of Mr. Huang Kun. At the anniversary and semiconductor discipline development seminar, Zhu Bangfen, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Tsinghua University, summarized Huang Kun's scientific contributions in this way.

As one of the founders of Chinese solid-state physics and semiconductor physics, Huang Kun proposed the theory of X-ray diffuse scattering caused by impurities and defects-yellow scattering, as well as the famous "yellow equation" and "phonon polarization excimer" And his wife Li Aifu jointly proposed the "Huang-Ries Theory". The "Lattice Dynamics Theory" co-authored by Huang Kun and Professor Born of the University of Edinburgh is still an authoritative work in the field of solid physics.

Xia Jianbai, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said: "From the current point of view, Mr. Huang Kun’s article does not have a very high impact factor. Of course, there was no such thing as an impact factor. Even today, he would not focus on the impact even if he publishes an article. Factors. Therefore, the nature and contribution of scientific research should be regarded as what is the essence and contribution, rather than the impact factor." In terms of creating knowledge, Huang Kun once summarized three "good at": good at discovering and asking questions, especially in science. On meaningful problems; good at proposing models or methods to solve problems; good at making the most important and meaningful conclusions.

Chu Junhao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared a small incident that he and Huang Kun went to France to hold a conference on semiconductor physics in 1982: "I live in the same room with Mr. Huang Kun. At breakfast, foreign scientists respect Mr. Huang. Bow to him at 90 degrees. I stand on the side and feel the weight of Mr. Huang in the world science community."

Being a man: simple and low-key, cherish every penny of the country

At the seminar, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Mathematics and Physical Sciences Dong Guoxuan, Executive Deputy Director of the Ministry, showed a unique application form for science fund.

This application was written by Huang Kun in 1986. The name of the project is "Solid Energy Spectrum Theory". The implementation period is from 1987 to 1989. A total of 20,000 yuan was applied for in 3 years.

This project with a funding of only 20,000 yuan has a lot of scientific research results: 37 journal papers, 1 international conference invited report, 5 national conference invited reports; "Superlattice electronic stateTheory" won the first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

"Mr. Huang Kun has applied for the National Natural Science Foundation this time in his life. He particularly cherishes the country's money, but he does not care about spending his own money. "Zhu Bangfen said.

Huang Kun student Yu Lisheng mentioned in his reminiscence article that Lin Fuheng, a young teacher in the teaching and research section of the Semiconductor Institute, had tuberculosis. The operation failed at the Third Hospital of Beijing Medical University and was dying. It was Huang Kun who managed to transfer him to Fuwai Hospital. At the same time, Huang Kun used the royalties from his book to buy back the special medicine in the UK. Lin Fuheng always said that Huang Kun was his "lifesaver". Compared with the great achievements in scientific research, Huang Kun is humble and in Life is extremely low-key and simple. Huang Kun’s house is a 70-square-meter small three-bedroom house built in 1955. The floor is cement brick without any paving. In the early 1960s, Huang Kun’s house had a Soviet-style black and white TV. Whenever there was a major program, young teachers flocked to his home to watch TV. The room was crowded with people, and many people climbed onto his big bed.

Although the Chinese Academy of Sciences later gave him a five-room academician room, Huang Kun also lived in only two years before his death. After Huang Kun died, Li Aifu immediately moved back to Zhongguanyuan until his death in 2013. After winning the National Highest Science and Technology Award, he was interviewed by the media. I often say: "I am an ordinary scientist, there is nothing magical and amazing. I am very fortunate to come along this way. There are opportunities in every period to play my role. No matter how much or less, I can always really use my strength and do some useful work. "

Zheng Youyang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, still has a letter sent to him by Huang Kun. In May 1990, Huang Kun went to Nanjing to attend the annual meeting of the Chinese Physical Society, during which Zheng Youyang suggested that he take his wife Li Aifu Went to the outskirts of Nanjing.

"I gave Mr. Huang Kun a detailed map of Nanjing. After the meeting, he returned to Beijing and wrote me a letter expressing his gratitude. He also said that he forgot to give him the Nanjing map. Return the city map to me. A few examples are enough to show Mr. Huang Kun's spirit of seeking truth from facts. "Zheng Youyang said.

Zhu Bangfen said: "Mr. Huang Kun has always insisted on working on the front line of scientific research and is very serious. This is the spirit that my country's scientific and technological circles currently lack. "

as a teacher: Attaching importance to the cultivation of talents far surpasses personal academic achievement

In 1947, Huang Kun discussed one of the most concerned issues in a letter to Yang Zhenning: returning to China or not returning to China for the time being?

He wrote in the letter: "Looking at the current chaotic situation in China, going back to study is naturally affected, and a scholar is obviously not enough to save the political situation"; "If the purpose of delaying abroad is only to escape, it seems to violate conscience. We still feel sincerely that China makes a difference with us and without us. "

Driven by a strong patriotic spirit, Huang Kun returned to China at the end of 1951. According to Zhu Bangfen's recollection, Huang Kun's years of wealth and strength were spent on the educational front of the motherland.

In 1956, Peking University, Fudan University, Xiamen University, etc. Northeast Renmin University (the predecessor of Jilin University) and Nanjing University jointly established China's first semiconductor major in the Department of Physics of Peking University. Huang Kun is the director of the semiconductor teaching and research section, and Xie Xide is the deputy director. Most of the students trained in this major have become semiconductors and integrated circuits in China Therefore, the academic circles also call this major "the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy of Semiconductors."

Academician Wang Yangyuan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the first batch of students majoring in semiconductors. He said: "When entering school, the first lesson is ordinary physical. The characteristics of Mr. Huang Kun's lectures are clear physical concepts, concise language, and strict logic. We listen to the lectures as a kind of enjoyment. "After getting acquainted with Huang Kun, Wang Yangyuan learned that Huang Kun taught a 1.5-hour class, and the preparation time required 10 hours.

"In private, his students discussed such a problem. In the early 1950s, teacher Huang Kun Scientific research is at its first peak. Was it cost-effective to give up research at that time and devote all your effort to teaching? "Peking University professor Qin Guogang mentioned this issue in his reminiscence article.

Zhu Bangfen said: "Huang Kun always believes that the importance of cultivating a scientific and technological team in China far exceeds the academic achievements of individuals. "Master

has gone, and the spirit will live forever. Huang Kun’s eldest son Huang Zhiqin said: "For a scientific worker, his peers work for him.How important and honorable is this attention and recognition. If my father had spirit in the sky, he would show his unique smile for this great honor. "
