"Sin is born by the heart, but also by the heart." These two sentences and eight words are the essence of Zen Buddhism, or the essence of Buddhism. The eight words
mean: Going to heaven and going to hell are all from our heart; the good and bad environment is also due to the mind-creating feelings; blessings and sufferings are also due to the operation of the heart. The "heart" of
refers to the ordinary heart, which is the ordinary human heart.
From the standpoint of Buddhist scriptures, ordinary people's minds are all creating karma and sin. Because people’s mental activities revolve around selfish, self-interested, and self-centered stances. Demanding safety, demanding protection, demanding protection, pursuit of happiness, and pursuit of fame are all for self-interest. Because of fear of danger, fear of disaster, and fear of death, I want to seek self-protection in various ways anytime and anywhere. When a person only thinks about his own interests, what he wants to do is probably not a fair good deed for others.
When a person's heart is moved, it will gradually become verbal behavior and physical behavior. I often want to kill people in my heart. When faced with an opportunity, I will really kill people. I often remind myself that "killing is a sinful act". Even if there is a chance to kill, I will not kill. Seeing the peach tree next door was full of ripe peaches, I always wanted to pick one and taste it. When one day passed under the peach tree, no one else around saw it. I will really steal a few peaches. If I often warn myself that "stealing is an act of defeating one's morals", I can remain indifferent even if I have this opportunity. If
has no thoughts, it can't be regarded as evil karma. For example, if someone walked under a big tree, a piece of dead wood fell off and injured the person. This piece of dead wood did not commit a crime because it was unintentional. Another example is that when someone walked under the wall of a tall building, a brick was accidentally dropped by a worker and injured the pedestrian. Although the brick is not guilty, the worker who put the brick should not be careless, so he committed a mistake. Human sin. The person who puts the bricks is for his own temporary convenience. That is selfish. He should think that there may be someone below, but he did not pay attention, so he lacks compassion.
This means that all behavioral phenomena are only the result. As for whether there is sin, it depends on the reason of the person's heart.
The heart can create karma, and it can also eliminate sin. When we let go of our selfishness and the desire to protect ourselves, we are without self and we can have no intentions. Since we have no intentions, there will be no karma and no sin.
A person who practices meditation will naturally not recreate karma after he is fully enlightened. It is an enlightened person who has no selfish consciousness in his heart, so it is called selfless and unintentional, only selfless intelligence and equal compassion. .
