After that, they often met by the bottomless pool. Aunt Wen also gave her "Hundred Butterfly" embroidered with a hundred butterflies as a token of love to Xia Lang.
The good times are not long. There is a ferocious and brutal Yu Wang who lives under the Cangshan Mountain. He has already coveted the beautiful Wen Gu. After his proposal was rejected, he sent Aunt Wen to embroider "Hundred Butterflies" in Prince Yu's Mansion as an excuse and sent someone to snatch Aunt Wen into the palace directly. He also ordered the army soldiers to kill the old Zhang who was blocking him.
Xiaolu witnessed this scene, and immediately flew up the mountain to find Xia Lang. Xia Lang came to the bottomless pool and buried his father Zhang, then put on a bow and arrow on his back, and rushed to Prince Yu's Mansion on horseback with a knife. Taking advantage of the dead of night, she rescued Aunt Wen. Unfortunately, it was discovered by King Yu and sent the general manager to chase after him.
They were exhausted when they ran to the bottomless pool while fighting. The chasers with swords, guns and torches were in front of them. In the crisis, the two jumped into the bottomless pool, and the deer also jumped into the pool as their master. Martyred.
The next day, the folks who salvaged Xialang and Wengu did not find the bodies of the two, but saw a pair of large butterflies flying in the pool, and then another flying out of them. According to legend, they were born of the "Hundred Butterfly" butterflies that Xia Lang, Wen Gu, and Xiao Lu Xiang Xia Lang carried.
Since then, people have called the bottomless pool the butterfly spring. Although this is a legend, every time on the fifteenth day of the fourth month of the lunar calendar, the sons and daughters of the Bai people will gather at the spring to miss the strong and unyielding lover. Couples of lovers, still go to the spring party on this day, sing tunes, dance, and confide in love. On this day, colorful butterflies from all directions flew to the spring to meet each other, which became one of Dali's strange sights.
