China Taiwan Network, December 30, according to Taiwan’s "China Times" report, the "Ministry of Education" of Taiwan authorities yesterday (29th) announced the registration rate of college freshmen for the 2016 academic year. The registration rate of 151 departments (including the department of further education and special classes) is zero, of which 64 are public schools, 87 are private, and most of them are master and doctoral programs. The daytime university bachelor's program that recruits less than 30% also has 68 departments, mostly private schools with technical vocational systems.

According to reports, every year countless high school students squeeze their heads and want to enter Taiwan University. Due to the impact of declining birthrate and the start of the global talent competition, Taiwan’s Ministry of Education announced yesterday that the registration rate of Taiwan University’s new students for the 2016 academic year was 54. There are only 14 departments in this department with 100% registration rate, and the popular departments such as medicine, electrical engineering, and law are not full. National Taiwan University responded that the main reason for the medical department was that a publicly-funded student turned to self-finance, so he did not register. The other reason for the lack of quota was that some admitted students decided to study abroad.

According to reports, among the 54 departments of National Taiwan University, only 14 departments of dentistry, history, economics, and chemistry have a home-run registration rate, while the others are mostly around 96%. The registration rate of the first-volunteer law department in the first category is 98.69%. The registration rate of the NTU Department of Electrical Engineering for the first volunteer in the second category is 98.73%, and 98.26% in the first volunteer medical department in the third category. At the same time, there is another department of National Taiwan University with a registration rate of less than 80%, which is the Department of Animal Science and Technology, with a registration rate of 77.5%. Statistics from

show that the Department of Electrical Engineering of Taiwan’s top universities such as Tsinghua University and Taiwan Jiaotong University have not been enrolled, which is a waste of places. (China Taiwan Network Li Ning)
